Beautiful work.......
I sure hope method 2 works for a 911 😂
Great repair on such a damaged bass.
You said the face is thin, but didn't say how thinned where it's thin?
Great comparison video. I own a mid 50’s C-1. I’m pleased at how well it showed in your video. The UB is a very nice instrument. It’s a coin flip. Great video.
What is the device that is used to keep the cable from slipping?
When i played at the charles Mingus bass festival i played on one of these basses are I honestly really love the way they sound. I’m really considering on getting one for college I think it would be a pretty good choice to go with an Upton
I repurposed a golf cart--works great!
Good job Thanks
Got this tip from Chuck Traeger's books. Also - anyone who is using a solid wire/coat hangar tailpiece wire, replace it with the cable wire. The whole bass needs to vibrate and the solid wires inhibit the tailpiece from vibrating as it should.
Getting close to assembly time!!! 🎉
I don't like that sound at all . Please stick to your regular bass .
definitely thought-proviking. Especially when you consider some of these older basses going for $100k. And people are buying them! I have to think that many of these are bandaids on bandaids on bandaids. I play a 1967 Gotz hybrid. It sounds great, and has given me zero trouble in the 35 years of ownership. I often get bass envy, but then I remind myself that there are ZERO investments in high-dollar basses that will pay for themselves (for me). thanks for the video.
probably good bass, but you need to have someone demonstrate that knows how to play. How about a bit of pops rosin on that bow. All I hear is scratch and thin flakey tone. Sorry! being honest.
why don't you ever give examples of fine orchestral basses being played with a bow? Plenty of videos but no demonstrations.
So many double basses in one room. It's beautiful
what was the other product recommended (that wasn't Linseed Oil) for cleaning/polishing fingerboard?
Will this affect the action in anyway way if the tailpiece isn't on properly?
Why would one remove the Extention?
Hi guys at Upton. Still can't find the in depth video that Gary made, would you help us find our way ? 😊
About time for a follow up on this wood.
The C Traeger book talks about wood end pins. Made sense to me. What the Upton position? Thanks
I can't find a video on how to install a tailgut, sorry, but I'm new to this and I have no idea how to put a new one. The double bass I got had none, it was non-functional. Thanks!
Very nice neck graft, btw what is the neck height projection measurement? Thanks
I came here today to look for details on the double upright bass. I found a neck @ Salvation Army last week and want to build a non-standard body from a cojon (wood box drum) and add a bass drum pedal for a fun party instrument. The Upton is a beautiful instrument and I am glad I found you today!
Is it normal for the cord to make noise when you touch it?
There is an Abraham Prescott in Arizona Just an fyi
Hogy a csodaba lehet hivni a nagybogot, basszus gitarnak??
This is the best tutorial I've found on KZread. Thanks a lot!
By far the best pickup Ive tried without the need for an extra microphone. Sounds incredibly transparent through my Acoustic image, will buy another one for my other bass.
Nice German style bow, buddy.
😂🤣😂 your list of things found in the bag, priceless. Thanks for this video! 🤗❤️
Superb playing🙉🙈
What type of alcohol were you using?
English Bass Turds-how aappropriate! Vlad the Impaler up those stinking kilts!
I have an old Kay with a buzzing bass bar. What's the best remedy for that?
I need that double bass!
This was really useful, and actually helped me isolate a nasty buzz I was getting in the tailpiece when thumping the open A really hard.
Please blow your nose and then continue.
Very nice!!!
Thank you.
I was doing it all wring, so i learned a lot. Thanx!!! From le pays bass.
I drive a Suzuki Swift and the 2nd method works like a charm! And I've been carrying the bass around that way for the past 5 months, thanks!
Big news. Congrats
You rather to leave this rant up and not have the informative in-depth vid?
brilliant!! Thank you Gary
all I heard was mingus mingus mingus mingus mingus all the way til the end! mingus mingus..
To : Mr. Arnold Shnitzer. From : Bob Hillebrecht Re : Excellent educator. Thank you 😊. Your instructions to a young man from White Plains @ 1974-1975 allowed me to list musian on my W-2 forms from 1975 to 2001. Thank you. Hopefully you are still well and thriving. Probably not the right forum. I still make mistakes.
Thank you
Great work
