Best to try and avoid a turning dogfight. The most successful pilots, including The Red Baron relied on speed and surprise- hit and run basically. Richthofen wrote that many a pilot came to grief because of ‘fancy flying’.
These are the years before the British airman named Frank Whittle who told us to eliminate all propellers and piston engines, back in 1929. I've read such from one of the Reader's Digest articles. The title: They have Entered into the Jet Age. The German Nazis were way ahead of us, fellow Americans. Our bomber's machine gun turrets couldn't swivel fast enough to defeat them.
Now this looks like an interesting race. It's a real shame that nobody races the road cars in Assetto Corsa these days.
What I liked most was that you could combine different cars with similar lap times, but completely different characteristics. In this race for example, the Lotus was fast and agile in the corners, while the BMW had greater speed in the straights, but 0 grip. I remember there was a server with only road cars, all in the same performance range... it was nice to use even the poorest ones, and try to get ahead of the more powerful cars. Too bad it's all over...
@sbc That was the Streetfight server, and it was great.......until everyone stopped visiting :( To be honest, my enthusiasm for Assetto Corsa 2 is extremely low. I just think that it will be more of the same as far as the online races are concerned, so what's the point?
@@Mogget5 Streetfight server of course! I'm very curious about AC2, I think that at least at the beginning there will be a lot of enthusiasm for normal cars too. At least I hope so, then unfortunately, as we have already seen, the GT3s will all take the spotlight. let's see anyway, consider that there are sites like lowfuelmotorsport, where they organize races at all hours and not just gt3. So let's not lose hope :)
The WSL (World Sprint League) with the Power & Glory 3 mod for GTR2 was some of the most enjoyable online racing that I ever took part in. I organised the races in this league, and it was a pleasure to do so. Baronesbc was super fast, but an absolute gentleman on track. Happy memories, my friend :)
Hey Chris, how are you? It's been a long time! How much fun we had in the WSLeague and Power and Glory, as far as I'm concerned the best time I've had in simracing. Like you said happy memories, what battles we have had, tough but always with great mutual respect :) What do you do now, do you still race on assetto corsa?
@@baronesbc I am doing fine, mate. I still have Assetto Corsa installed, and I get the wheel and pedals out of the box now and again for a test drive or two. The big problem that I have is that nobody wants to race the cars that I like to drive. These are the road cars and a handful of classic cars in Assetto Corsa, but almost everyone else (apparently) is only interested in driving modern race cars (which I find extremely boring and lifeless). A part of me wishes that I could go back to the days of Power & Glory 3. They were the best!
@@Mogget5 Same here, Power and Glory, Historic and Touring cars for rfactor, so much nostalgia.. On ac are always the same servers, nordschleife practice, mx5 cup, gt3... really a shame. Recently drm modding team released the final version of the drm revival mod. One of the best mod on ac i think, incredible sound, monsters to drive, very immersive. Online there was only one practice server at the Nordschleife, and obviously empty... it's really a shame that there is no more interest in the old glories, they are the ones that give the most satisfaction to driving. Same thing for road cars. However I gave up and went over to the dark side :) at the moment I often race gt3s and gt4s on acc lol.. I don't know why but on acc I find them enjoiable and challenging
@@baronesbc I tried ACC, and managed to get a small amount of pleasure from driving the larger range of GT3 cars. However, I was really disappointed with the GT4 cars. I expected them to be slightly closer to road cars in feel, but they were actually worse! The novelty passed after a couple of weeks, and I have not played the game since then. I just cannot be bothered racing cars that I do not enjoy driving. The driving experience is a large part of the fun!
@@Mogget5 I understand. The GT4s are driven in a slightly different way than the GT3s, but they are absolutely not comparable to road cars, they are definetely modern racing cars. I like them, but to be honest I only drive the Maserati, the toughest one, without ABS and TC it's challenging be competitive again the others, but she can be very fast. In any case, it is rare to find public servers with Gt4, they practically died a few weeks after the dlc release. Same fate for the GT2s. People only want GT3s lol

Merry 10th christmas in a row dear baronesbc and comment readers. What a milestone. To celebrate, I kid you not I took the time to defeat the groxes myself. I started around 3 years ago and slowly but surely got around to defeating them on the 19th of Dec. 2023. Very proud to have achieved it on the 10th consecutive year of me commenting as well. Merry christmas! Time flies, and here I am commenting again, this time the on the 9th consecutive year.
