For top performance, the kart battery lasts about 12 minutes at full throttle and even longer on shorter, technical tracks. It is designed for 10-minute race heats or training sessions and can be changed in just 2 minutes after a session.

Just like radio controlled planes, when electric starts to move in its very expensive, will take time for the cost to drop ... IC is a lot cheaper for karting. A 27KW system (with 1 battery pack) costs well over $10k whilst a 36HP IC race engine is like half of that, it comes with a 2 speed gear system. Batteries are still very expensive, its not that easy to say swap as the cost is prohibitive. But the torque ... lovely. Will e-karts totally dominate in the future? Nope. Never for racing. Look at Formula E. For hobby karting, it possibly may once the cost of batteries drop by 70%. That is what helped electric RC planes to be so popular now.

While it's true that the initial investment might be a bit steep, the long-run savings on maintenance, fuel, and the need for engine rebuilds make electric karts a smart choice.

@@BlueShockRace … you are 100% correct when factoring all that in. With my RC planes, the airframe survives longer, it’s clean. 😂🤣 I been lurking at your website, eyeing the X4 power plant kit. I believe no one in my region has done it and would love to be one of the first. Just like when I started to convert 40cc RC planes into electric back in 2008. You guys make it so tempting. Very tempting! 👍👍 One query … would the X3 have the equivalent performance of something like a Rotax 125 Senior Max Evo?

For those naysayers.. I must agree. I am sure in different scenarios and drivers, the results might be different. Petrol powered karts has been around & improved upon for decades, electric power racing platform like BSR has only just begun with in the last 10 years. Yes, many people & companies has mobilized the electric tech, nothing will ever be perfect. Still I give credit when it’s due. To be racing in the front pack with a new technology against decades old tech, it’s a sight to be behold, not to mention the ease of maintenance (cheaper in the long term) after each race. With noise & sound restrictions on many courses these days.. future is here to stay. It’s a complimentary “addition” to the sport we love not a replacement, a lot still need to be proven, but many variables are pointing that direction just like film VS digital, vinyl vs Spotify…without this electric tech Ekartraceway indoor track will never exist to discover young talents that otherwise will continue to be buried..😢

Once battery prices drop, it will pick up faster. Just like for RC planes. I used to convert my IC planes into EP as far back as 2008. Was so costly back then. Batteries, ESC and branded motors.

In my opinion from my research the 25 kw option will out perform the x30 as the advantage of the electric motor will be instant ramping out of the corners and no more top end bottom end engine rebuilds just down to the frame. Not made in china with a solid design in regards to the BMS comms between battery controller and battery This is not an experimental set of components slapped together it’s the best design the I have found in the world of kart racing well done Artis.

@@andreagiagnorio5775... EP eats GP alive, i been there with RC planes. The torque is so sweet. Only problem with EP is battery cost and weight. LiPo batteries got higher energy density and are relatively lighter but in a crash, they can be a fire hazard. ? By the way, I do own a 125cc Parolin Le Mans kart. I would love to try EP ones. But the cost ... oh well ...
