Choral Rehearsal Videos

Choral Rehearsal Videos

You'll find 1900+ rehearsal videos made by and designed for choral singers of all abilities to be used as a supplement to regular weekly rehearsals. Single staff and multiple stave versions allow you to hear the other voices that are part of the texture. Most of the videos have a piano version of the orchestral reduction. Others have the entire orchestration, such as the Brahms Requiem and the Leavitt Requiem.

Currently we have complete rehearsal videos for Bach's St. Matthew Passion, for "Messiah" by Haendel, the complete Paul Leavitt "Requiem", the complete Puccini "Messa di gloria", as well as many other major choral works.

A complete list of the videos available on this channel can be found on:

www.lumenariamusic.com/choral-rehearsal-videos/

Click on the menu "Choral Rehearsal Videos" and you'll see a drop down menu which will lead you to a list of videos for the work you're practicing!

And...please SHARE, LIKE and SUBSCRIBE!

Many thanks,
Paul Leavitt

The green beat bar doesn't slow down for any fermatas. It was off at m. 82 and never corrected. The audience that makes use of videos like this will have difficulty practicing melismas when the beat marker is ahead by 2 measures, already on the next page, but the audio is not. Also, the tone used for the voice has just enough reverb or echo so that rhythms played on the same note are very hard to distinguish. Since there are no words, I would suggest something with a slightly more apparent attack. Just offering constructive critique. Thanks.

This helps but the measure indicator gets off from the music and turns the page too soon 😢

Yes, sometimes the synchronization gets a little off. I've tried everything I know to get them to line up when they're off, but to no avail. Sometimes the problem is with the software program that generates the videos. Sometimes it's with KZread itself. Fortunately the synchronization is pretty accurate in the majority of the videos. Some people just follow along with their scores when the page and the sound don't line up exactly.

Measure 46 or 7 before 3 in the fourth beat is a G instead of an F according to a verified orchestra score, on the other hand I love this material that you share, it helps a lot for personal study, thank you

Thanks for your message. When we performed this piece, we made a lot of cuts. The entire work, all 3 movements, lasts over 2 hours and we needed to get under 90 minutes. So that's why there's a huge gap from 8- 31. Hopefully the bit that is up will be helpful. It's a fun piece. We really enjoyed performing it!

I don't want to be a bother, but I wanted to point out that there might be a mistake in measure 147. My score has "quarter Eb, quarter Ab, eighths Ab, G, F, Eb. I can sing past it, but for anyone else using this as a rehearsal track, watch out for that measure.

Many thanks for posting these! I was compiling a rehearsal playlist for the altos in a Bach festival chorus and the initial parts videos I chose were too fast for relative beginners, especially those who don't have access to a piano or keyboard. These are perfect for those starting out learning the part.

Thanks for your lovely message! I believe it's possible also to speed up and slow down the videos on KZread without changing the pitch. My singers have been using these videos at all stages of learning. They have greatly sped up our rehearsals. We're able to move at a much faster pace since singers are practicing every day instead of just once a week. Please feel free to share, like and subscribe. This will help spread the word. All my best, Paul

Will you be adding a 9 stave version for the other movements? This is very helpful!

  • @paulleavitt5466
    @paulleavitt5466 Жыл бұрын

We ran a little short on time when preparing these videos. There was a HUGE amount of music and text to input. Hopefully we'll have time to circle back and add a 9 stave version when things calm down a bit during the summer. Delighted that you're finding this video helpful. It made it possible for our choir to learn it. The Bloch is a magnificent work, and VERY challenging. It deserves to be heard and performed much more often.

@@paulleavitt5466 hello from France I ll try to help according to the score we have. I am alto so I first have a look on that line except for the first correction bar before your number 1 : we have for all voices D instead of C (ré a lieu de Do) bar 53 first G sharp (sol bémol) bar 54 F F instead of E 2 fa au lieu de 2 mi) bar 56 2 quavers G flat (sol dièse) your number 10 : "pp" from the beginning following staff "de" (b) and Fac (G) are linked by a slur (une grande liaison) your bar 140 "pp" starts at F "non" for all starves voilà, c'est ce que j'ai trouvé comme différences avec ma partition ;)) but thank you anyway. some parts are really complicated (your number 13) hard to memorize.

This is FAR superior to other sites with the singing parts, because you can hear the orchestra in the background and follow the green baton. In addition, the sound of the alto part is much more pleasing that other sites. I was having a lot of trouble learning this part for my chorale, but this has helped immensely. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, Paul Leavitt! Just one error in the text: in measures 159-160, it should read lieb...LICH, not lieb...lieb.
