    Wow! I was lucky enough to work for Lyric HiFi in White Plains NY in 1985 and had a pair of these in our reference studio. The woofer towers were run on a pair of Mark Levinson 300 watt monoblock amps and a rotating array of big amps for the Tweeter/Mid towers. We also had a Teac reel-to-reel rebuilt by Mark Levinson as well as Sequerra FM tuner. I was only in high school at the time and got quite an education in HiFi. (R.I.P. Steven Zipster)

    It was a different era then. If you pulled yourself up by the bootstraps, you had a shot at establishing a successful company. Try getting into hifi manufacturing nowadays, and it's an international competition with production scale to match. There are great engineers in many countries, and most of them have cheaper labor than the United States. I don't mean to discourage anyone who has ideas about a new product; it's more to lay bare what you're up against if you're an American who has ambitions to break into this field.

    Such an inspiration 👍I love music ❤ I have ideas, and designed to revolutionize speakers since speakers never change for over a century but I don't have the materials and funds to start making one but I hope someday I will enter the audio entertainment industry 😊 but for now they are just on paper 😂 wish me luck 😊

    I actually heard those when I was young and could still hear high frequencies like a German Sheppard! I believe I saw a magazine advertisement showing Wilt Chamberlain standing next to one. They had them set up at Audio Research when they were still in Brooklyn Center, MN. I think they were connected to a pair of D-250's. They thought the Sota Sapphire Star Turntable was good to go as part of the overall system. Very interesting to hear other sound systems now and again. By the time I can afford something like that I'll be aged with old man hairs growing out of my ears where no hair had ever grown before.

    Why are the bass towers so far behind the mains?

  • @Stereopluss
    @Stereopluss13 күн бұрын

    Because it give better bassresponse in the room. And the way you place tweeter/midtrange-tower give better soundstage.

    The are beautiful speakers but you would need a huge room to properly position them. Knowing me, I would blast AC/DC through them.

    I had the RS 4.5's with 4 of them mids and tweeters. They were so clear and accurate but just couldn't handle the power for the decibels I like. I'm sure that these ones can.

    I listened to a monster infinity system years ago In A high end shop in Washington DC. The system sounded terrible. It over loaded the room! No imaging. Forget sound stage. The sound was everywhere and the bass seemed disconnected from everything else. It played loud enough to damage you ears. This is a good example of how the room affects the sound. You need a hugh room and careful placement to make these things sound descent. Bigger is cool but not always better. Buyer be a ware. (Not "Buyer beware".) 😮

    I have never heard a pair but I think they should sound great. Have you ever measured what was wrong the original wiring and what was better with the new wire? As for the LP preamp, then yes it’s a great achievement but these days just use an. Op-amp, you will probably die, trying hard, before you get close to what these can achieve

    During the late 90’s, I was lucky enough to live near the Infinity Speaker and Amp factory in Chatsworth, CA. I remember dumpster diving and would pull out huge speaker enclosures, speakers and other stuff, most often I got things to work. Hooked up some speakers that I salvaged, boy they sounded amazing on my 1979’s radio shack stereo!

    I kind of get the feeling (as an engineer) that they are trying to use everything that is used in the high technology metals treatments right up to until they develop something like unobtainium. I wonder who they are trying to impress, I’m sure it’s a great turntable but ever so slightly over the top.
