I tried the grip from the previous lesson with the lead thumb on the lead side of the club and it seems to be great, but I will give more detail once I have taken it to the course with all clubs. There is no gap between my hands and the club with that grip at the top of the backswing. Secure...

Man you really have no idea what you’re talking about. That “hocus, pocus, bull” is what Nicklaus & Tiger have both talked about as well as many other hall of fame players old and new. It’s all the same swing but people live in different windows depending on what their tendencies are and what shots they like to hit.

chris, when i swing like this it works great for while and then i start hitting pull hooks probably from a grip that is too strong. i revert back to an arm slashing type swing and that works for a while but i know it's not correct. i will have to work on my grip so i can keep the hogan type swing going which feels so correct to me when it works. thnx for the help.

Check grip for sure but also keep in mind that you want to keep turning or moving to finish the swing. When you start feeling the arms swing by is when you absolutely know the lower body has shut down. Hope that helps.

The elbows too close together may be the catalyst to the modern swing theories. A bowed wrist can lead to pushed shots or pulling to the right. A cupped left wrist keeps the left arm close to the body and keeps the hands close to the body as the ball is struck.

Really enjoying these videos Chris. I'd like to see you hit some shots. Also I find it strange that you've rarely any thoracic extension in your back at the top of the swing. Is that a physical limitation or deliberate?

  • @NoMoreSecrets.BenHogan

This might have completely changed my game. I shot a 73 using this, normally mid 80s. It allowed me to turn through the ball with my body in control. Thank you so much!

This lesson(?) is totally contradictory to all your lessons. It really does not make sense logically. Ask any elementary physics student, or any person with a basic understanding of science. You just told people to not use their feet, hips, glutes , ass, core. muscle to send the ball down range. Ben Hogan, and everyother golfer recruit every muscle in their body to send the ball down range. I like your videos for the most part, however this one has to be your worst. Futhermore, your videos never include footwork, and I have been looking at your front foot movement. It's something that you never address. You make everything seem fawless on the down swing or what ever, However your front foot has alot of movement going on due to you wearing non golf shoes and teaching on a non grass surface. You need to take your lessons to grass or something else. Otherwise its just BS as you like to say.

In fact maximizing the pulley and lever system for his back swing as you have shown, along with his diagonal bikini lines and diagonal upper arms against his chest; (also taught by you): Ben Hogan clearly said on lesson 5 that his downswing started with his hips in order to let go of the stored up energy of his backswing. Namely on Ben Hogan’s downswing his left sided hip pulling back and right sided hip pushing forward. So you see it is impossible for Hogan to have come from over the top. Currently the other Christopher has produced a top secret film on his impression of Hogan secret OTT swing. And will likely charge $$ to view it. Thank you for giving your information absolutely free and simple to understand Cheers 👍😊🥂👌

I don't understand the the 'butterfly grip' concept. It doesn't seem possible because you're touching your palms together at the same part of the hand, but the right hand is lower than the left on the club. That breaks the butterfly apart.

What I notice about a cupped left wrist in the backswing is that it’s helping to keep the left elbow close to the body. If I try to have a flat left wrist, there’s a tendency for the left elbow to move away from the body. When I cup my left wrist I feel strength in my upper left arm.
