Todd ,question ,can a 400 M handle a 25' bar meaning oil wise lubricating the chain sufficiently??? Please advise me whenever you can, I thank you in advance Gunter PS. What about that magnesium piston how safe r they ? Have they really proven themselves, hearing conflicting opinions on the coating possible flaking chipping which could damage the piston and furthermore the bearings down below in the crankcase? What's your opinion n experience with the 400 on that matter???

I purchased the 32 ton performance pro log splitter from Lowe's several years ago. Right after I Purchased the log splitter I received a letter from Briggs telling me of a recall on the engine, there were a LOT of people injured from the recoil kick back and the letter said NOT to use the splitter until this recall was done. SO, I took the log splitter to a local shop who said that all of the recall parts were on order. Mind you, before the recall work, the splitter would always start on the first pull and the speed of splitting was GREAT. After a 6 month wait, the parts were finally in and the work completed. Once home I TRIED to start the splitter with new gas in it only to have to pull numerous times and once started the splitter was leaking hydraulic fluid from all of the metal piping connections. SO, off it has gone NUMEROUS times to fix the numerous leaks and try to get the speed back up BUT it still leaks, after spending more on repairs than I had on the purchase I am about to dump it off of a cliff. It takes numerous pulls, sprays to start it, the speed is so slow even with new fluids and filter and the splitting power sucks. I have no recourse since it was out of warranty once the damned recall work was done. Would NEVER buy this king ever again!!!

I love your videos young fella your doing great job ! I own an ms-261 c & a 462 ! Both great saws 18'' bar on the 261 and a 25" " bar on the 462 , my 462 has good grunt on big stuff ! Thinking I'd like a 400 now like you have to fill my gap ! Keep up the good work !

On January 9th, 2024, the giant evergreen tree in my backyard was uprooted due to heavy rain and strong winds. It made a loud banging noise. The trunk leaned over the fence and the treetop leaned over the rooftops of my garage and the neighbors' garage.

All that money for a sound. Gordie has truly perfected the art of selling chrome 22' rims in the form of muffler covers and side plates for saw. Grab that stock cover, take it to your local welder and have him weld a port on it. WCS is pure glitter.

Not quite. It makes a lot of noise, and very minimal power gain. Is you actually calculated the power vs. cost you'd be blown away. 😅

Cant hook comes in real handy for rolling logs over to finish your cut and avoiding rocking your chain, also pinching chain. Keep up the great work and videos.

You ever try splitting sweet gum. Similar properties. Maul just wants to bounce off and is super stringy. Doesn’t like to split well at all

Hello, according to STIHL's recommendations, a 25 bar is not suitable for this machine. It would have been necessary to buy a 462c, certainly, a little more expensive, but planned for 25.

I just split some pecan. It can be stringy sometimes but it smells good when burning. A lot if bbq places use it to smoke their meats.

Oh get the Hexa chain and file I think it’s just as fast as square ground chain if you do that but lasts a bit better a little more robust and won’t dull as fast

How do you like the 400 I skipped it went to 500 as I have a 261cm for all my smaller stuff and then the 500 I with bark box and a few other upgrades is my go to felling and milling saw

I just bought a 400c. There were 2 on the shelf at my dealer. I watched them for about a month and finally got one. Haven’t even ran a tank through it yet. There were also 2 500i’s on the shelf also. Don’t know why they aren’t selling. This is big time logger country here in southern missouri.
