I love Jane's complexity. Mentalism, mind-reading, and psychology got his wife and daughter killed, so he refuses to believe it. However, sometimes, he wants to try and communicate with them. But he chooses not to because he knows what happened in the past, and he doesn't want to get anyone else to get hurt by him and remind himself of his guilt.

Mentalist is one of my favorite series, but there are a few details that bother me. First, I wouldn't have put Bret Stiles or Brett Partridge in the list. We kinow Red John was 20-25 in 1988 when he was at Elliston farm. So, he must be 50 in the series. Bret Stiles is too old et Partridge too young. Instead of these men, I had chosen Kimball Cho and Walter Mashburn. Second, the way Red John survive after the explosion in Jane's house is just not serious. Apart from that, I'm a great fan ot this series.

The mentalist is a great damn good show. But man I'd wish seeing Patrick give more use to that gun. When i saw the guy that actually could shoot the man that killed his wife and then hand over a, imo, wonderful and pretty good looking gun, I knew it, i wished it. That gun had to be present when Patrick succeded. I don't remember now if it's the same handgun, but man it feels like it. If I were writing that scene I would beg Simon to shoot the gun until no more bullets are left at Red John corpse. Man I love that gun. And the mentalist.

For those saying the reveal of who was Red John was disappointing: That's exactly the point. Mostly, the killer isn't a corrupt police chief like Bertram, a manipulative genius like Stiles or an excentric madman like Partridge, but the unremarkable, friendly "man next door". The reveal was meant to disappoint. Yes, it was a risky stunt with an american audience, for the same reasons they couldn't show Voldemort just unceremoniously dropping dead in the final Harry Potter movie like our average human being, as described in the books. It always has to end with a big bang...

Thr most disappointing reveal in tv history. After some of the surprisingly most compelling, intriguing, and at times bone chilling and "shout out loud-OMG" written television.... smh It shouldnt have been someone we know, especially him. Instead, it should have followed the precedent SE7EN set, in that he was certainly seen in a somewhat forgettable, short interaction, but once that scene is shown in a flashback, you go "oh yeaaaaaaaaahhhh... sonovabitch i remember that now, " type of scene. In fact, now that i write this im remebering an episode where Jane goes into a gas station mart or something to talk to the employee inside and we briefly see the camera linger for just a brief moment, on a man that i am 90% sure we saw as an extra in the background before. Probably just a casting mistake, but that wouldve been good enough for me. Write an film just a 10 min of that guy looming aroubd in the background of multiple scenes (regardless that actually happened or not irrelevant, you just film it and edit it, but would make it that much better if it WAS that way and you can see it upon rewatch 😊! ), with just a damn MINUTE of explanatory dialogue and boom bam, ya got yourself a better ending to something ive seen disappointing peoole/fans for years

There's a few issues I have with the lead up and death of Red John. 1.) Lisbon stupidly put herself in harm's way by going to Partridges location to investigate by herself. 2.) Making it basically impossible for the viewer to know(make a guess) of who Red John was after the Explosion. 2. The only way I know Gale Bertram wasn't Red John after the explosion was based on how he acted. This was because he was too stupid to be Red John, and he wouldn't be riding around with someone so low on the totem. So I always thought Red John was someone we didn't know. The explosion, supposedly killing Red John (the Sgt.), little to no plausible clues were given for the viewed to really have any chance at an identification. It was taken off the table with the explosion without enough information to really presume. Jane's assumption it was the Sgt., with also having a Pigeon on hand seems just too much of a stretch as well. Don't get me wrong, the series is really enjoyable, but there are some things, like the one above, where I feel they put too many gaps in to allow the viewer to really have a chance to guess with a successful outcome.
