NS’s parents Southern Railway and Norfolk & Western ordered their first and second generation diesels set up to run long hood forward-and their locos had high short hoods - into the 1970s.

@@dmvarearailstransprod22 from what I have heard, and I didn't even notice this, and I probably didn't see it either, amtrak 132 had a broken windshield both windows. They probably ran it long hood forward to protect the glass from hitting anymore possible debris

So, I was on that train all the way from Pittsburgh. Yeah, the Amtrak loco sustained damage from an incursion with a downed tree in Ohio at 3:00 am that same day. But at 3:00 am, beggars can’t be choosers and you have to use what you get when you ask for help. I’m impressed, frankly

Cool, equipment was from 44th Infantry Brigade Combat Team from New Jersey Army National Guard returning from Joint Readiness Training Center (Training) Rotation 23-08 @ Fort Polk, LA which ran from May 29-June 11, 2023.

Imagine the confluence of events that had to occur for #29 and #30 to meet precisely at Harper’s Ferry … and on top of that, with so many Phase VII locomotives of both old and new vintage in one place at one time!

@RailfanKaleb not really, the 4 ALC42s were actually just being delivered to Amtrak, one the P42 and Dash 8 were powering

@@RailfanKaleb It's my pleasure I'm sure. I remember riding that train from Pittsburgh with my mom before Christmas of '87 and after New Year's of '88. It was Called the Capital Limited and had a dining car, snack bar car and Vista Dome car. We got into DC 2 or 3 hours late. We didn't have as much layover time to meet up my aunt and uncle to hit the sites and catch the Colonial down to Newport News. The food in dining car was excellent and mobile at the same time.
