Wow its been soooooo long since Bro has made a video
I appreciate this. Peace to P-town. Thx!
To further understand Seagal's unique branch of Aiki Budo, I'd recommend seeking any of Seagal's top black belt students (now accomplished instructors in their own right), possibly Larry Reynosa, Jorge Angulo, Haruo Matsuoka, Jaime Calderon, Craig Dunn, etc).
Excelente producción! Solo puedo desear que continúes compartiendo tu trayectoria con nosotros. Te deseo mucho éxito. Saludos y bendiciones 🙏
Wow, Octavio! This is gold! Thank you for sharing this thoughtful and introspective look into your personal journey in martial arts. I love the title you chose for this documentary. Interestingly, I recently read “Mastery” by George Leonard, where he emphasizes the ripple effect - the idea that small, seemingly insignificant actions or changes can lead to significant and widespread impacts over time. I began training in JKD with Angelo five years ago and have made remarkable progress since then. The influence of mentors like you and Angelo, who expect the absolute best from their students, pushes me to confront my limitations and strive to become the best version of myself. Your focus on developing speed, power, agility, and reaction time are definitely challenging, but it keeps empowering me and giving me a greater sense of self-awareness. But it is the philosophical underpinnings of JKD that resonates with me the most. The emphasis on adaptability and on constantly evolving one's approach - these lessons have carried far beyond the dojo. They've shaped the way I approach challenges in all areas of my life. Embracing the Way of the martial athlete wasn't just about learning techniques - it was about embarking on a journey of self-discovery. Through the crucible of training, I found a deeper understanding of myself, my strengths, and my purpose. It was a pivotal point that continues to reverberate through every aspect of my life to this day. I feel incredibly fortunate to have trained with you and am deeply grateful for your valuable teachings. Please continue to inspire the JKD community. I eagerly anticipate the next episode!
Thank you for sharing your thoughts! It sounds like you've already taken the leap forward, as you continue to self-actualize. Thank you for being a part of this. 😃
I'm proud to be part of this. Thank you Octavio
Beautiful Documentary, Sifu 🤗💕did Inosanto Sifu/Bustillo Sifu, first Seminar on Jun Fan/ Kali! Been doing southern Gung Fu since 1975 😬

Great video Octavio🤩. Honored to have known you and thank you for your teachings.
My pleasure!!
Is it ideal for close combat?
Is it something you need?
I'd love to see something related on how Bruce managed to heal himself when he was told it was over by possibly the best of the best back then. It is crazy to me that the Dr. in charge did not even bothered on figuring what exactly happened, they make "science" but do not seem to bother about such things being part of real life
I’m sure you can find a book sharing those details . Thanks for watching
Your comment doesn’t make sense.
@@axelstone3131 why so?
@@lmclrain Bruce never “healed” himself. He rehabilitated his back as much as he could but he was always in pain. The issue was never really “fixed” in the way you think. this is why he started taking pain killers and took cortisone injections to manage the pain. It caused him a lot of problems. Also science isn’t “made up” it’s something that is observed, measured, tested, peer reviewed and studied. People don’t just “make it up” Everybody knows how Bruce hurt his back. He injured it doing good morning exercises damaging the sacral nerves in his back. If you did some research you could have easily found this out. You should buy John Little’s art of expressing the human body and wrath of the dragon: the real fights of Bruce Lee for more information about him.
@@axelstone3131 well... even if from everyone telling you it is over, and getting to that point even with pain, that to me is still something that should have not been ignored by modern medicine at the time, don't you think so?
Salut octavio merci pour tes vidéos j'aime beaucoup le jeet kune do 😃
🙌
This is canon for jkd lineage. Great interview and video. Thank you Octavio for keeping it authentic and straight to the roots!
🙏🏻🐉
Хорошая работа шифу👍. Мне очень понравился, я тоже хочу заниматься с Джит кун до.
Dan Inosanto is one of the big gest frau dst ers in martial arts. His "as many arts as possible" (his words). Was designed to keep students coming in paying him money. Sc s ammer.
Well, Thank you for watching.
You've been in Italy wow. Unfortunately i live way far from ROME or MILAN
I really enjoyed this, thank you. 🤜🏼🫷🏼
One of the best I have seen on YT on JKD, I can see that you truly live and breathe your craft, took so many excellent pointers on mechanics from just this short documentary which I will add to my own training. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and also your passion for your art.
Thanks for watching 🙏
Really enjoyed watching this and it kinda came at the right time .. Made me think about some things and reflect on other things that i have push to the side and forgot about and neglected. Watching this motivated me to look in the mirror and reset some of my ways of thinking and try different avenues in my journey in this life .. Thanks for making this , it was very inspiring and detailed .. Good luck on your journey...
Moving forward and beyond . Best wishes
Thank you for this Inspiration! ..love the way of life..and love the way of Martial art's 🙏! ✌
Thank you for watching
Thanks for sharing your knowledge sifu! 🙏🏻
Just amaizing ! Thank you for sharing such great knowledge... pure 💎 God bless you Octavio 🙏
My pleasure!
Thank You 🙏 Impresive , all that knowledge ... was hidden until today ! God bless you Octavio 🙏
*This is a great episode, Octavio! As a JKD practitioner, I love how well you showcased it. I do have to ask, because I noticed some of the instructors from the Ted Wong line are against trapping and are focussed purely on evasion and attack without traps and also with the back hand protecting your chin from the side rather than an almost fully open palm protecting your face from the front, because apparently Bruce's last photo in the stance showed him doing that. What do you think of this?*
Yes. You shouldn’t trap if you’re only evading and attacking. If having the hand open helps with security then I would suggest a student to continue using it. Same thing with the chin open. Just determine when & why you would use the defense you’re seeking in that way .
@@octavioquintero - Great, thanks very much for taking the time to respond, Sifu Octavio!
Reminds me of Dustin Hoffman of jeet kune do charisma 😊 with latino salsa jazz rythm style in it 😊 thank u for this 🙏
Great source of inspiration, wisdom of a Martial Athlete . Love the way you make this documentary and the discussions. Wishing you all the best, to a Great Martial Artist. Thank You!
🙏
Nice little brother, great presentation. D. M. Blue
Much appreciated! Good to hear from you.
Like I said, keep it alive, keep it real, viable and express. Oh! I still see that hint of kenpo in one of those recoveries 😅. Stay well, stay close. Walk on as a warrior
I'm the 319th person to like this video.
Great stuff Ovtovio, your the reason I started to learn JKD
if Bruce Lee was anything like this I see why it was hard to get in on him😎
🤭
I really enjoyed the documentary.. Long live JKD influencers and Keep on learning!
Excellente vidéo, j'ai adoré, très intéressant qui fait réfléchir, de petites touches techniques très intéressantes, merci Octavio ,bonne continuation, tout le bonheur pour ta famille et on attend de nouvelles vidéos👍👏👏👏
At the 15 minute mark, had me remember the time my jkd school closed down and was told I was going to be a certified instructor but I never got my certificate. I was very upset and didn't train for 4 years until i survived a health scare I had in 2021. I'm finding myself learning new lessons that my sifu didn't teach me. With this im glad I took the initiative. Life is truly a learning journey.
Same. I was able to test to become an instructor.
What a great video! Thank you for uploading and sharing your knowledge!👍
Great video. Lots of golden nuggets to reflect on and to grow upon. Excellent job.
The most Cringe thing I've watched about bruce, jeet kune do died in 1973, People love to act like there bruce, and making money on teaching JKD, which they have no idea what JkD was meant to be Delusional people, especially in america
People still Copy Bruce. Even how they move.Thats not what he wanted. Be your own light! And not a shadow of another one.
You follow the principles, simplicity, directness, economy of motion. It’s not copying. Bruce’s delivery system of fencing footwork is sound. It allows you to be fast and explosive, to get in and out quick. What do you think he was teaching his students? Just to do “whatever you want”and hope it somehow works? I think you miss a fundamental detail about what makes JKD work. The movement Bruce utilised is adirect result of the footwork and its efficiency. Why wouldn’t you follow his guidelines. To get from A to B in the fastest time you use a car not a horse and cart, why would you go backwards?
I like your analogy. Absolutely . I’ll use the car on a road 100%. I wonder where I can use the horse? 🙏Thanks for watching
@@octavioquintero lol thanks. I don’t know. Maybe a batter terminology would have been an ATV.
That was a great and inspiring video, thanks!
