    I didn't know about all that went on with Walter Raleigh. I just think of him on Blackadder 😊. I can't even imagine what it must have been like ending up there. I love the way they do the presentations. I thought they thought they had found the bodies of the twin princes.

    Ah well that proves the consequences of the Royal Crown being in league with the Spanish crown!! Sir Walter Riely had no real defense protection. Today, we could learn lessons. I digress. LOL Beautifully kept in spite of the history. All the top views were beautiful.

    What incredible architecture. The little part of the Lincoln Bar looked fascinating. I always think of Robbie Coltrane playing Samuel Johnson. It would be interesting to see who the real person was in his house. I would love to go to Twinings and would probably spend a fortune. When you said Ye Old Cheshire Cheese I thought you were going to a cheese shop so was a bit disappointed that 😕 was just a pub. I am surprised 😮 that there is no real museum about the newspaper trade. Would love ❤️ to see Magpie Lane (?) And the detailed drawings. London just has an amazing history.

    What about St Dunstans in the East, the old Daily Express building, reference to the River Fleet? I like your videos but this one comes up a bit short…

  • @LondonVisited
    @LondonVisited4 күн бұрын

    Thanks for the feedback - unfortunately the Express building is under hoarding as they are redeveloping and I remembered the river once everything had been completed and kicked myself! St Dunstans in the West is down for it's own separate video. Thanks for watching this and previous videos :)

    Steve, right at 2:43 to 2:44, the audio cuts and it starts over - did no know if you knew that. Maybe a technical glitch. Just wanted to let you know. What a grand and beautiful building both interior and exterior. Love the courtyard area with F&M eatery. Lovely! This should be right up your alley, Steve, as you are a finance guru!! I love this amazing history!! I wonder if any of this building was filmed in the 1955 movie, Scrooge with Alistair Simms (one of my FAVORITE English actors). I enjoyed this podcast!

  • @LondonVisited
    @LondonVisited4 күн бұрын

    Thanks Luana, it wasn't used for Scrooge but was used in the Saint - a 60's TV series with Roger Moore - which I remember on reruns in the early 80's! :)

    Steve, I had a quick question for one of your future Q&A sessions - when ever you have room on the list. For the lovely very old melodic bell chimes of Big Ben, are the bells in tower the original bells or have they been replaced? Are they regularly cared for to keep in good order and condition? You can condense those questions of you like - you get my general meaning. Thank you!!!
