Out-Spoken Wheels on Wheels
Wheels on Wheels is about a full time wheelchair user living part-time in her minivan.
Hi! My name is Joan and since a car accident in 1985 I have been living life as a full time wheelchair user as the result of a spinal cord injury. I am now starting a new journey. I quit my job and will be selling my home and moving into my Dodge Grand Caravan. Come along on my journey to see how I tackle the unique challenges of setting up a van for living/camping as a person who is unable to stand up. I plan to do a lot of travelling so hopefully there will also be good information on accessible activities along the way.
Please enjoy my videos and feel free to make comments and suggestions that might be useful to me or anyone who views the videos.

My friend in BC has a used SuperArm for sale, I can connect you if you’re interested
Hey thanks for thinking of me! I have not yet found a larger vehicle so am not ready to buy the super arm yet. If you are ever in the North Okanagan I would love to see your van in person. I think I would model mine very similar to yours whenever I finally get one.
@@out-spokenwheelsonwheels5870 I will probably be taking the #1 West at the start of October. Was all over the Okanagan in May 🤦♀️
@@Keepinitwheel306 sorry I missed. I might be around in October so let me know.
Nice!! I’m glad you got the “half-sized” version, the full size are sooo hard to lay out solo
Ya I didn't think I could manage the larger ones.
Nice to see you out camping!
Bad interviewer.
I just bought a 2018 dodge grand caravan and I'm in love with that little table that fits perfectly in the 40%. I need to get one
I got it on Amazon. Just search 'small folding table'. There are loads on there to choose from.
Thanks for sharing.
Those mats are terrific! Congratulations on your easier and more fun access. Thanks for showing us. Take care and stay safe and well.
Thank you and you too!
They look like they're gonna work pretty good and so glad that you found something to help you out with that soft gravel.😊
Me too! Thanks!
Great to see you out and about! You look like your doing well and it’s good to see you smiling 😊
Thank you!
Able bodied ppl just dont realise the fullon challenges you guy's face daily...thankyou very much for sharing. Please forgive my ignorance.
I don't think you need to be forgiven. Thank you for commenting!
If you travel to Quartzsite, those panels will come in handy on the rocky desert there, but I will caution you to be very careful lifting them up. Scorpions like to hid under things. I am absolutely not telling you not to use them, just use with caution. I'm glad something like this is available.
Thanks for your comment. I had thought of that and it does worry me. Tarantulas too.
What kind of lift is that ?
Hello! Its an Adapt Solutions HI LIFT
@out-spokenwheelsonwheels5870 thank you 😊
Thank you for the informative video.
I’m interested to know where they can be found.
Accesstraxd.com or google Access Trax. they are out of San Diego
Where did you buy those? What are they called?
They are called Access Trax. Accesstraxd.com
Your dog is so good! Pretty place to camp.
They are my freinds dogs. Oscar is the little one and Abby the larger one.
great idea
looks so much easier to move around!! Great addition even with the little bit of time it takes to get everything in place. Looks like a great place to camp!!!
Yes it makes a big difference. Hope it will be great in the desert tool

Hello from France 🇫🇷
Cool! Hi!
Use trash bags for the liner in the bucket for toilet. That's what I usa
ya that's what I use too. I will throw the whole thing in another bag when I go to throw it away.
keep strong , take care about yourself am support you xo do you have differend collors from your plastercast's ? . if you can upload a new video about your feets i want to see more from your feets if you can hugs with love from lieven from belgium xo 😋😘😘🤗🤗🦶🦶👣
My casts were all white. I am not that imaginative.
You go Girl!🙏
Good to see you post again and very happy to hear that you are healing and able to get out and travel.
Thank you!
Joan one thing that I'm concerned about with your chair being outside is the wind maybe blowing it out of reach for you with the cover on it. Maybe tie a long strap to the chair under the cover so you can pull it back to you? I think the cover is a great idea! To bad you can't paddle lock it to the van somehow 🤔. I think it's a fantastic idea just need to work the kinks out which I'm sure you will❤. Great to see you giving it another try.
Ya I sortof thought of that. I would like to at some point put some kind of loop welded below the door to padlock it. That would help. I could still loose the cover but at least not the chair. Good comment. Thanks!
I bought a mobility van to take care od my mom. Rear seats dont stow away just fold down back. Always trying to look for similar things but all with no seats. My ramp comes out passenger slide door which is broken now. Stay safe
It's no fun when stuff breaks. Especially when it is something you REALLY need. I am sorry it is not working. Dodge Grand Caravans have stow and go seats.
@@out-spokenwheelsonwheels5870 i have a town and country with stow. They must have reconfigured. Another electric component back there, spare tire, last rope to pull to stow not there.
@@Atrip111 Not sure I understand what you mean
@@out-spokenwheelsonwheels5870 I was just saying my rear seats do not stow away they just fold the back down. There is a ramp under the floor that comes out the passenger side door so the middle seats don't exist.
@@Atrip111 oh i see.
Nice to see you are out and about again. 😊
Hi Joan! I was just going to ask you if you where heading out soon!!!! Good for you! Enjoy!
Yup! have a couple of trips planned before the end of the month! Its nice to be back out again.
What a great idea! I like to leave my rollator outside too. It takes up so much room in my van. When I did that up at my friend's home in Oregon her male cat sprayed it😂 took a long time to get the smell off
Ouch! I never thought about animals. I did think about bugs (spiders). That sounds nasty!
@@out-spokenwheelsonwheels5870 it was. I had to bleach it and get a new under the seat bag.
I'm so happy for you! I know you are ready for fresh air and fun!
Awesome!! Great No build build👍 Enjoy the road! 👍🚙🌞🏞️
Hope n pray that all went well for ya🙏☺️
Yes! Thank you!
You do know he has more determination than you. He’s going to win.
Lol! He did!
Too funny and very sweet. 🥰
Haha! Thanks!
You are fine to just talk to us. ❤
I seem to remember that Bob Wells interviewed a paraplegic van lifer. Have you seen that van tour? Her van has a chair lift also.
i have been watching a channel with a parapelgic vanlifer. Not sure if I found her on Bob Wells or not. Can't remember but Bob Well interviewed me as well about two years ago.
You're an inspiration. Please keep the videos coming. And, thank you for sharing so much with us.
Thank you!

Thank you. Yes I had plaster casts on both legs. One was removed four weeks ago. I hope the other one will be removed on Wednesday. I will do an update after that. Your job sounds interesting. I am glad you have a job you enjoy.
Praying for your legs and your recovery and your peace of mind during these trials.
Thank you!
Lol 90° is too hot
Pretty cool video thanks, I'll have to see if you made other videos.
Thank you for sharing. My brother has made a total of 3 roll/walk in showers his and 2 for my parents the old house then the new house. He saved them money for sure.
love it!
I’m so glad you’re okay!!! ❤
Hi Armi! Thanks!
Redness on your leg is not normal - sign of inflammation or infection. I hope you see your orthopedic Dr at least every 2 weeks and they x-ray both legs at every visit. Because you are paraplegic is not an excuse for inadequate care. (Retired RN). My tib-fib fracture was open so surgery was required. Infection in bones is very difficult to treat so I watched my leg like a hawk and I called that surgeon's office with any infection signs. My fracture also involved a crushed ankle so I could not have any weight bearing on my injured leg until healing started. My bones did not start healing until I had toe touch weight bearing. Even a bone stimulator didn't help until I had light weight bearing. So happy for you with the shower issue resolved! 🚿 Water is such a gift from God!
Thank you for the info about your expereince. I will keep a better eye on the redness and swelling.
So glad you got your shower situation figured out! It's so easy to take for granted something I do every day what some people struggle to do. Thanks for sharing. ❤
Thanks for sharing this with us. I'm sorry about the mismeasurement. I'm sure you were frustrated by that. No matter how much we says "Measure twice - cut once" there are still things we assume and sometimes we get it wrong. I'm really happy you were able to find a solution you could make work for you!
Me too. thanks
That is a great solution, and may I say? I really love that tub. And just say you know you are such a Warrior.😊
Haha. Thanks!
Looks great in there
Hi Wendy. thanks!
