  I already had the digital files, so didn't need to extract from VHS. For the upscaling, I used Topaz Labs AI Video software. It needs a powerful GPU and upscales frame by frame based on an algorithm.

  Interesting at around the three minute mark you see motorists and pedestrians treating zebra crossings the way they legally are, that motorists have the right of way and pedestrians wait for a gap and then cross. Only when already crossing do cars have to give way. Today it has become the norm that if a pedestrian even looks like they want to cross cars will stop and let them. In this video we see pedestrians wait at the crossing while cars carry on driving past.

  It's actually due to a Highway Code change last year. The 2022 Highway Code Rule H2 says that if pedestrians have started crossing the road and drivers want to turn into the road, pedestrians crossing have priority, and the traffic should give way to them. It also counts if a pedestrian is waiting to cross, cars now must stop even if it's not a zebra crossing. www.gov.uk/guidance/the-highway-code/introduction#:~:text=Rule%20H2%20%2D%20Rule%20for%20drivers,from%20which%20you%20are%20turning.

  There's another colour video shot in Chelmsford in 1969 . It's part of a ford's publicity film about the super transit - lots of really good scenes .

  Loved that cinema. Many a happy hour spent from childhood, through Saturday morning pictures, to the Chelmsford Premiere of 'Moonraker' in 1979 to which I won 2 free tickets plus a 'champagne reception', regardless of the fact that I was only 16 and too young to drink (I still ended up sitting in the Mayor's seat!). Then the last movie I watched there before it closed down was a rerun of 'The Spy Who Loved me' in 1982. Grand old building, but it had reached past its peak, sadly.

  Many a happy time spent at the Odeon... first film I recall ever seeing was Snow White and the Severn Drawfs, Bambi, Herbi, Star Wars and so many others... back in the good 'ole days if you liked a film so much you could quite stay in the cinema for the next sitting... I remember 1977 watching Star Wars with my Mum, I loved it so much pleaded with her to watch it again immediately after by staying in our seats... I think she might have slept through both sittings, my good 'ole mum xx :-)
