It is evident that he understood classical music from the base , from the harmony, not from finger repetition as usually do in many schools, and he modified some parts of classical songs to create new ones. The point is... how understand the classical music from the base of the harmony???

Whenever i go to see Peter Hook and the Light now he kinda morphs into Pigpen from Peanuts in my mind. Have to shake my head and snap out of it. Brilliantly done guys and girls. Snoopy is amazing on the apparent 2-string lead, but cartoon characters only have three fingers so i suppose it's best he can manage..... love the guy zorching at the back, and the tribute to Ian Curtis's "spaka dance" at front right.

One of the things about Joy Division that in my youth that always attracted me and so many others was that safe zone flirting with the look / sound of fascism. From the names to the dress code. It was one of those things that both horrified and attracted in equal measure. Ians fascination with the subject was very much the core of much of his music from Warsaw's early day onwards. Was this a need to belong, to be part of something greater or something darker?
@douglasmorrison777Ай бұрын
It is odd but also glorious just how well the dancing fits with the music and the individuality of the Peanuts crowds approach. For those who used to attend the Mission in Edinburgh will recognise many of these dances and characters. I always remember one girl, dressed in a long gown of black with a black crown of thorns who used to cling to the wall and never spoke to anyone. So many odd but interesting characters!

The truth, which can often be a terrible thing, is that the conditions that so crippled Ian were also the conditions that helped him create the depth that his music offers. Often, in the darkest places belongs the greatest insight! Equally so many of us that recognise the emotions and depth of his words, do so through the fact they recognise the darkness he carried and the choices he made.

have you ever listened to a band called Blue October? give them a try, especially their early music. the lead singer/song writer was in a very deep dark place and this is reflected in his music. check them out

@@supernatural7690 I will listen to them now, another band like that is Virgin Black? Not sure if you have heard them. The earlier work is more trad goth/ind but the later material is often Orchestrial. 'Our wings are are burning' is a particular high or mayhaps, low point?
