I disagree. Puerto Rico's situation is different with that of Palestine. The Palestinians has the option to pursue the proposed "2-state solution". Many times they reject it. Israel has definitely stronger historical connection with the land.

So, let me get this straight, Puerto Rico is a Nation that could vote to be a U.S. State. If they vote to become a State will they still be a Nation? This video states that Puerto Rico is a colony of the United States. Puerto Rico was colonized by Spain. Puerto Rico became part of the United States as a result of the Spanish American war. So, can a colony be colonized? This video states that there will be a "non binding status referendum giving Puerto Ricans the option to vote for statehood". Isn't "non binding status referendum" an oxy-moron. How can a referendum be non-binding? Isn't that just an opinion poll? Is Palestine a Nation, but not a Country? Are England, Scotland, and Wales Countries AND Nations. Is the United Kingdom only a Country and not a Nation. Is the United Nations is made up of Member Countries and not Nations, even though Nation is in their name. And, finally, when will the Country (or Nation) of Vatican City assemble an Olympic Team? Or, would that be unfair because God would be on their side?

I think when PRs start informing others about their own history it would be more appropriate when bringing up the Spanish ties to stop referring to them as the oppressor when we actually are the descendants of these people…. We speak there language and have there culture…. We need to accept all aspects of our dna heritage and stop referring to they as them.
