Piękny wywiad...o wielkim sportowcu i bracie. Mieszkałem w tym czasie w Grudziądzu i bardzo przeżyłem śmierć Bronka. Był wrzesień 1981, niedziela.

I remember Bronek coming down to New Zealand in the late 70s for a series of races, ( I think Maminski ?was with him as well). He raced against Euan Robertson ,(76 Olympic finalist ) in steeple races and Quax, Dixon and Moorcroft over 5k I think, and Walker in a mile or 1500.

I was a big fan of Bronek and met him in London after his Olympic victory in Moscow 1980. I was very sad to hear of his death in 1981. As a Scotsman, I am aware that Bronek's Mother was from Scotland. Can you confirm that she was born in Edinburgh? Hopefully these interviews can be translated to English and that a biography can be written on Bronek. Thank you.

I think that we poles owe you this explanation especially given the fact that you are a Scotsman. Yes indeed Bronek's Mother Irene was Scotish(née Dowell) and had lived in Edinburgh untill 1948 when she decided to leave Scotland for communist then Poland. Bronek was even considering at some point(1981) to move to Scotland- it's just an unconfirmed rumor- to escape increasingly deteriorating situation in Poland but as you know at the end it did not happen. Great personality, iron man and role model for people of all ages and our two countries. I don't know to what extend the Scottishness was cultivated at home in Poland but knowing how proud the Scots are I am sure that it played an important role in his prematurely ended life. Hope that helps a bit, greetings from Poland

@@matsontario8480 Thank you Mats for your explanation. It was a privilege to meet Bronek and he was indeed held in high regard by his competitors and fans. The rumour was that Bronek wanted to run for Scotland at the Commonwealth Games in Brisbane in 1982, but sadly that was not to be. Best wishes to you from Scotland.

@@tommytempo1 sure you're very welcome, yeah it would have been quite a story if Bronek he'd had a chance to compete for Scotland at the CG in down under..there are so many anunswered questions, up untill today loads of people still haven't come to terms with this huge loss and even I have my personal attachment to the story as I still remember- even though I was a kid then his epic chase and finish at 3000 m steeplechase race 1980 olimpic final. RIP Bronislaw
