So, I guess the point that is being made is that Christianity has an external view of the world, while the esoteric goes after the internal? Correct me if I'm wrong please. Well, I wouldn't argue that this is a "problem", more a world-view. You mention "arrested development", I'm assuming that you mean traditions of the church. The reason the church isn't meant to change is because changing doctrines can lead to a fractured and splintered church (cough cough Protestantism). The point that you made that Christians aim to become like Christ and therefore venerate themselves is quite misleading. The whole point is the veneration of Christ, through theosis. Theosis - meaning deification - does not mean that the person becomes full of himself because they have become Christ-like. In fact, the whole point is that you never know when you become like Christ, and the gap between you an Him becomes ever wider the more you try. Humility is one of the most important concepts in Eastern Christianity. One is not supposed to view themselves as holy, and if they indeed do (because of their actions or whatever) they should perhaps read up on what Jesus said about the Pharisees... Moreover, this video goes after Western Christianity, which I admire, because it is true that Western ideals are quite egocentric and materialistic. From this, though, I think that it would be best to explore Eastern Christianity, which focuses on the mystical experience of the Church through the sacraments. Forgive me if I didn't understand some parts of the video. It would help quite a lot if the video used plain English to explain what its trying to say. I would also write a bit more, but I'm already writing out an essay as it is.

I am a Christian and this is the deception that most people fall into aka only focusing on the exoteric part and not the esoteric part. That’s why Jesus said that lusting in your mind has the same sin and damage to you as doing in the physical. That's very much the Orthodox perspective, which is why we have sacraments like confession, where you have to confess even thoughts. And yes, you do have to fight inner temptation also. You can read about the lives of some saints to see what they went through and how they fought. Theosis is very much internal and external. Obviously you're probably more educated on esoteric principles than me, but surely fighting inner temptation isn't actually esoteric? Esoteric means, from my understanding, many layered. Gnosis is an example of an esoteric belief, for example. Do you believe in Gnosis?

I think this video is greatly mistitled. It should bee called the problem with most western Christians rather than the problem with Christianity for it finds nothing wrong with Christ or the works of God but rather says a lot about the dishonest approach of a belivers towards their hearts.... Maybe the way really is that narrow?
