God, this nasal singing is a mess. The Celine Dion of classical singing... This is how it's done: kzread.info/dash/bejne/pHVlsNdskayen9I.html, or even better, kzread.info/dash/bejne/jKqn3JOwftjAlZM.html

No one sings this aria more emotional and beautifully than Ms. Fleming. Not even the divine Aida Garifullina. It is outstanding

Of course Fleming is wonderful but that uncredited violinist is also world class - this piece almost becomes a duet between her and the violin.

it's sad thou comprehensible how mediocre voices like hers are so overrated by mediocre people.. But we are lucky J. Norman, despite not being the standard blondie cliche, could realease recordings and save us from mediocrity

Incredibly beautiful. The entire concert is amazing but unfortunately cut into pieces that are difficult to find under the various composers' names. Would love to see it from start to finish. Still, many many thanks for all the uploads!

question: who is the most senior in an orchestra? the conductor? no, but who saw? then there is the light. it is very difficult to create lighting with the audience for the production. first everyone who plays in the orchestra has their light so they can see the notes. it's so white light. when you make a TV production, you must ideally have - 1000 watts of white light - times 2. but it doesn't work in an atmospheric concert hall. then it is about them - they rarely stand in the light that has been created for them. sigh! and in many, many cases, many soloists are outside the spotlight. because they think there is so much light 🙏🏻😅😔 so yes. I have great compassion as far as technique is concerned. when the sound technician sets up microphones that are perfectly set, then - yes, they grab the microphone and ruin the whole thing, by wiggling the microphone or getting too close. sigh! as far as the audience is concerned, they hardly understand how much time such a production takes - also because in old halls you can hardly hang anything, and that's nice. It's like in the "old days" - you come to the theater to see "the others", I'm not saying that the experience and empathy are there, but prestige and such things are of high priority - what kind of dress and earrings - on the toilet, talking the derogatory ones or that - this singer is much, much better than she we saw - in general you have to educate your audience. then there is the opening of this outstanding concert - utterly boring, what does the camera man mean? or the lady? why are these productions always so hopeless - even if they are good. because now it's a crisis, folks! we need something strong to save this noble art - orchestras and opera are headed for the ditch. yes it looks very nice, but we are losing the classical tone, we are losing so much art - and the art of the voice - that's right - the highest in an orchestra. then reach your pockets and pay for quality art. stop nagging. that's how we solve these damned wars. ♥️🎓greetings she annoyingly 😊happy from the dandelion.she is lovely❤

Much as I generally admire this artiste, on this occasion I find her interpretation of this immensely beautiful song far from pleasing. I abandoned her after the first phrase in which she made no attempt to follow the score's marking, which instructs that it should be sung >"molto tranquillo"...< (In passing, I much prefer the melody to be played by a pianist rather than an orchestra; to my ear the sumptuous prelude, likewise the postlude, suits the solo instrument far, far better.) I've listened to maybe thirty or so recordings of this song and for me the version which stands not simply streets but whole motorway lengths ahead of each and every other offering is the pairing of Dame Janet Baker and Gerald Moore. Matchless. Oh how both of them gloriously wallow in and caress the notes in those opening bars, marked "Langsam". They deliver faithful to the composer's clearly stated wishes. Amazingly, in my perception even Fischer‐Dieskau fails to embrace the spirit of the piece, at any juncture. I'd go as far as to opine that here he sounds dull, I was taken aback at this particular discovery. No, JB and GM absolutely nail it in my book. Textbook exemplary, their achievenent indelibly memorable...
