I met a 22 year old woman who developed a liking for me. We spent some time together and then she went back home to Wisconsin. We wrote back and forth and then one day, I received her letter from San Antonio Texas. She surprised me by confessing that she had enrolled in the mortuary science school there. She asked me if I had any vacation days left because she would be happy to show me around the city. I was so shocked that she was studying to be a funeral embalmer and director, I never wrote her back.

Doing the first call and meeting with the family is very critical and how you handle the deceased loved one and how you treat the family. How that first interaction is made and how delicate and careful you handle their loved one can literally make the difference and set the tone for the rest of their experience and how they perceive the funeral home and their services in a hole. Even though that family is grieving that family is still very perceptive and can see if you're sincere by the way you talk by the way you walk your body language

Hi, I'm in Melbourne, Australia and have wanted to join this profession for quite a few years. Would a funeral parlour take on a mature age student? Also, im currently a hairdresser who can also do makeup, would that be of any advantage in a job application? (I realise that there's a vast science based side to the profession) Do I do the cert 4 course first, or in conjunction with a funeral home? Thankyou in advance.
