    Charlie said that he and his followers were not hippies. Hippies wanted peace. Charlie wanted violence. The name slippies was because they were slipping out of society. The big one where they mess with your brain and tell you to do stuff was CIA’s experimentation mind control using LSD was called MKULTRA. The goal was to give someone drugs, specifically LSD, without the subject knowing what was going on. Then the CIA would tell people who were under the influence of LSD, and who would never commit murder while sober, to kill someone and have them commit murder and they had no memory of it after. Charlie didn’t write songs for others. He did write songs and he played guitar and sang. He had a decent singing voice. One song that Charlie wrote was given by Charlie to Dennis Wilson because Charlie and The Family had lived with Dennis for a few months. That cost Dennis about $100,000 because they trashed the house stole anything that was of value, wrecked cars Dennis had given them, and Dennis paid for their food, clothes, etc. Charlie gave his song to Dennis as repayment for the money Dennis spent on them. All royalties were to go to Dennis. That’s how the repayment worked. Charlie told Dennis not to change the lyrics. Dennis changed the title and quite a bit of the lyrics to make it into a song that Beach Boys fans would like. Charlie was irate when he found out. The title of the song as Charlie wrote it was Cease to Exist. Dennis changed the title to Never Learn Not to Love and he changed “cease to exist” to “cease to resist”. The only other Charlie song that I know of that was recorded by other artists was Look at Your Game Girl. It’s on Guns ‘n’ Roses album The Spaghetti Incident. Sharon Tate’s sister Patti was livid that one of Charlie’s songs had been recorded by Guns ‘n’ Roses. She was also angry at Axl Rose because he often wore t-shirts with Charlie’s picture on them. She said that he was bringing up an interest in Charlie in young people who didn’t know about the murders and stuff. She said that Charlie should not be portrayed in a positive light. That song is still on that album but it isn’t included in the list of song titles. Helter Skelter by Vincent Bugliosi cannot be trusted. There are things that happened that weren’t in the book. There were things that didn’t happen that were in the book. VB embellished things, used his imagination on some things. He actually told witnesses what they should say and wrote it out for Linda Kasabian. At that time Linda was in protected custody in a jail cell because there was a very legitimate concern that her life was in danger from other members who weren’t in jail. Linda’s 2 babies were in foster care during the trial and she wanted to get them back so she did as she was told. If she hadn’t she could lose her immunity and be tried for her part of the crime including driving, disposing of bloody clothing, and wiping the blood off the knives and threw them out of the car. She was at the very least an accessory. If she’d lost her immunity she would have gone on trial, been convicted, spent years in prison, and wouldn’t have been able to live with her children. VB was a mess. Signs of mental illness. Narcissist. I don’t consider him to be a reliable source. My personal motive list that is not up for debate is: 1. Drugs, more specifically drug burns. It was out on the grapevine that those who dealt drugs from that house burned people on drug deals frequently. 2. Money. Charlie had a few things going on and he needed money. 3. Copycat killings. 2 weeks prior Bobby Beausoleil killed Gary Hinman because Hinman was supposed to have money according to Charlie and Charlie wanted that money but Gary never came up with it. Bobby had written on the wall in Gary’s blood and included a paw print in an attempt to implicate the Black Panthers. Bobby was in jail for Gary’s murder. The girls thought that if they did copycat killings that police would think the real killer was still out there and they’d let Bobby go. (This is also called “for love of brother”. 4. Revenge for drug burns at the Tate house and for a grudge Charlie was holding against the LaBiancas. 5. A little bit of Helter Skelter.

    I totally agree! It’s so different this season. The montages and music aren’t as great, but what I really hate is how awful Carmy is to everyone. Like, why are he and Ritchie at each other’s throats? It’s ruining the restaurant, the thing he’s dreamed of all this time. I know that you have to have conflict in a story or it’s boring, but he’s going too far. And then the season is over and it’s just hanging there. It feels like a different person is writing the 3rd season. Also, I love Jamie Lee Curtis, but her character is awful. Anyway, just wanted you to know you aren’t the only one.

    Thank you! People keep dragging this season, but there were some really beautiful moments in it, especially in this last episode. I just wish two things had happened: 1. We got to see Richie RSVP for his ex-wife's wedding and add a plus one (the woman from Chef Terry's restaurant) 2. We saw Syd finally sign the contract--but it ends up being for the other restaurant.

    The chef at the beginning is Thomas Keller, widely regarded as the quintessential celeb chef. He's mellowed hugely in later life, but Chef David (Joel McHale's character) is put together from a lot of TK anecdotes in his younger days. The whispering disparaging things in his chefs' ears is directly cribbed from stories about Keller. Just for context.

  • @dannyboyNS752

    You are just making shit up. Thomas Keller was always a soft spoken, patient teacher dating back to when I was at the Laundry in the 90s. There are endless Chef's that could have inspired McHale's character (Charlie Trotter, Marco Pierre White, Gordon Ramsey just to name a few). Keller was always known for distaining the loud, abusive french bridgade kitchens in favour of a very calm, quiet 'backstage'.

    My theory is that MAYBE the disconnect and lack of flow in the entire season is to reflect the disconnect between all the characters happening at the time. They’ve always been very intentional about stuff like that so maybe it’s not a mistake that this season feels a little disjointed because that seems to reflect that’s going on between all of the characters. The disconnect between Carmy and literally everyone (esp Syd and Richie) and even Sydney feeling disconnected from The Bear altogether. I’m probably giving them too much credit but it kind of makes sense!

  • @V.H.Silva89
    @V.H.Silva8928 күн бұрын

    Yeah, this is a great reason to put an explanation behind the "mess". Maybe this is really the intention. But that doesn't matter if the episodes end up suffering anyways. It all felt like chaos for chaos sake. And also the first 2 seasons brought all this chaos elements and used them perfectly to drive the narrative in sync with the characters and their emotions. This season doesn't really have a driving force. And these effects are now kinda not so fresh. Take the hospital episode for an example. I can clearly see why it was structured the way it was. Make us go through it with the characters and make us feel it all without giving us relief. But for me it became too tiring after a point. Even with the amazing performances, it lost the effect it had on me when it was ending. Finale didn't work for me also. The confrontation between carmy and the his mentor chef was great. But that's it. People just sitting around and explaining things? Felt more like a not so great infomercial than a finale of one of the best tv shows to come recently.

    how much did anyone's story / character progress in this season? The only one whose life had any major change was sugar. This season was literally all flashbacks and arguing. Carmy is still stuck between wanting to be the best the only way he knows how and wanting to be a better person, and still just lost the love of his life and not sure what to do with that. Syd is still trying to decide whether she can actually grow when Carmy is a control freak (yes she's presented with an opportunity to leave but hasn't actually done anything with it). Marcus didn't change at all this season after his mom passed. Ritchie is still just trying to carve out his place in the restaurant and be a good father. I've been every character." - The s1 episode where they loose power and freek out about the food? Yea. That happened to me. I grew up in Ohio. So the Midwest Chicago setting still screams home to me too. I swear when season 1 dropped, I talked about it to everyone and some peeps got it and most ignored me and I had a hard time finding anyone on you tube talking about it. S2 got a lot more attention! I'm sure that's what they were going for, but it was unsatisfying from a viewers pov. They over relied on montages, a few episodes were pretty much just long montages broken up by short conversation scenes. Characters all seemed to stagnate this season, to the point it just felt like the show was spinning its wheels going nowhere. For example, stuff like Uncle Jimmy giving motivational speeches to light a fire under them, which were effective in season 2, just seemed repetitive in this season.
