  The best way to prevent future cleanings of floor crevices is to get wood putty or in this case a divider/transitioning strip.

  Get one of those refillable paint pens to touch up baseboards and high traffic areas. You can bring a paint chip to a paint store/hardware store (not from the U.K., but Lowe's, Home Depot, and Menard's are the big ones here) and they will match the paint type and shade. Then just have a gallon (not aure the volume size sold in the U.K.) handy when you have the time and energy for touch ups. A little here and there and the house'll look new.

  I'm not sute what it's called, but there is a caulk bleach/whitener that you can get. You spray and leave it for a few minutes. Totally worth it.

  Thank god we have garbage disposals. It mashes up the food after you drain it. Then you can just clean it and bam! No extra step!

  I always loved burning candles but i think people don't realise no matter how good your candles are they do leave a residue on everything but you don't notice until you go to wipe something down like walls etc so i don't use candles anymore
