Unfortunately it would cost a lot to get it back to showroom condition and even they made fewer Formula's than Trans Am's, they don't hold Trans Am value. But, most old cars cost more to restore than they are worth. You restore it to enjoy it.

@@2000TA I have been on these cars since I was a child . Had a 76 trans sm 400 that was more if a dog than an overweight neighbor lady who would purposely wear tight outfits even though she weighed more than me. You know the type. Truthfully the 350 4 barrel from 77 to 79 be an ok option in thise cars, I just neverr seen one. I always thought the 305 chevy, though goid in its own right was not enough for these cars unless you talking a stripped regular firebird, at best.

  • @2000TA

@bighank796 I agree. My dad bought a black '78 WS6 new, sold it a little over a year later, then bought another '78 WS6 with a 400 last fall. I've had a '98 and a '00 WS6, so Trans Am life is on my family. The guy that owned this one died a couple of years ago, so i don't know much of the history. When I was decoding the VIN and cowl tag, I was surprised when it said chevy 350 was original to the car. I knew some came with the olds 403, but didn't know they were available with a Chevy engine, too. But the L in the VIN stands for the 170 hp, 4bbl, 350.

Can you advise; I'm changing all bushes to superpro. What do you do about the front leaf spring? Do you have to restrain it somehow when dismantling the suspension? Or does it not actually spring down thay much when you release it? Thanks

88-96 front suspension is the same, but 88 had taller shock towers. No need to remove front calipers or rotors. Swing the knuckle out of the way and use wire to hold it up out of the way. Undo swaybar at the bottom, or you're gonna have a struggle getting that spring out. Glue the lowering wedges to the frame, NOT THE SPRING. I know what the Vansteel instructions say, but they're doing it wrong. Need to cut the spring retainer saddles down a bit to compensate for the reduced pad thickness, since you've glued them to the spring and not the frame there is a damn good chance you're going to lose those pads when they eventually come loose from the spring. If glued to the frame and the retainer saddles are trimmed down the wedge can't come out and it won't damage the spring.

My older brother had a slant nose Laguna S3 in high school 1986-87...I'm sure his probably ended up in the scrapyard....I never realized how much potential the car had to be cool back then.....My dream restomod would be something like. Find a slantnose S3 in decent body & interior shape for cheap with bad engine/trans/rear diff. Find a wrecked Corvette for cheap that uses the rear mounted gearbox chassis. Swap engine gearbox & diff so the Laguna for much better weight distribution. Add front splitter, rear spoiler, some functioning Z28 side fender vents that match the Lagunas side window louvers. Drop some vehicle weight, put some nice bucket seats on the swivel seat frames. To mame a few ideas, led lighting conversion in interior & exterior.

I replaced it with C7 intermediate pipe and secondary cats as primaries with super 10 Flowmasters, it sounds a million times better!! Then I added some short tube headers to top it all off.

I love coming back to watch this over and over LOL ~ I have a stock flat hood 98 just like this in Sebring Silver - LS1 with auto / stock chrome rims -it has right now 107k miles -the only thing I have done is added a 1400 watt sound system. I get ppl all of the time coming to my door wanting to buy it. It's the best car I have ever owned. It still has original paint and never wrecked. I have put 2 sets of tires since 2014 but never had it aligned. I bought it from the first lady owner. It's drives on a rail and the tires wear even. Living here in Vegas we have no rust. The sun is a bitch but I ceramic coated it and it looks great for 24 yr old paint. Anyways your WS6 is a nice car. (Mine's a WS9) I love the sound of your cam making popcorn LOL
