Why did you choose to grind the bevels post heat treatment and risk compromising the heat treatment?
@aikabacrafttools912911 ай бұрын
Because if I did it before I would risk twisting the blade at the quench or even crack the blade. Also the oven has an oxidant atmosphere, so it always create a thin decarburized layer of steel that needs to be removed anyway.

Una locura ese trabajo amigo te consulto para revelar el hamon que tipo de vinagre y que tipo de jabón ??
@aikabacrafttools9129 Жыл бұрын

What is the Clay for?
@aikabacrafttools9129 Жыл бұрын
The part of the blade covered with clay won't get hard after quenching, or at least not as hard as the rest of the blade, creating a hamon or differential hardenind line.

amazing, gorgeous, beautiful. i am completely confounded as to how hitting the back of the handle with a mallet made the tang go into it? it looked like you were only holding the handle itself, how is that possible??
@aikabacrafttools9129 Жыл бұрын
Thank you! haha it's the third law of Newton, action and reaction, If an object "A" exerts a force on object "B", then object "B" must exert a force of equal magnitude and opposite direction back on object "A". So... when I hit the handle with the mallet the handle itself exerts a force on the blade and the blade exert an equal force back to the handle, and that's why it goes in.
