what kind of fabric should I use for the bottom layer?
@Zaolan123 Жыл бұрын
The bottom layer of petticoats is typically satin or a similar fabric but you can use cotton if its more comfortable. Whatever works for you is fine as long as its somewhat light

Thank you so much. Very easy steps. Instead of pressing up 1/2 on both sides of the waistband to save a step, if you sew your seam, press up around the waistband and leave the other side open you can just sew that side with a 1/2 seam to the underskirt and then fold over the wiastband. That way your band is attached fully unstead of having a space and just leave the inside open to insert the elastic through the casings.

Just looking for clarification on the waist circumference x2, if my waist was 46 does that mean it should be 92 across the top for the pattern piece?
@Zaolan1232 жыл бұрын
IIRC since the pattern piece is one half of the shorts, it should be about 46" across the pattern piece to make it 92" in total. Sorry to word it weirdly haha

Not sure if you will respond to this but i started this skirt and i realized i bought 1 inch elastic instead of 3/4 could i still use it?
@Zaolan1232 жыл бұрын
Sorry for the delayed response! 3/4" elastic would definitely work! If you're worried about the skirt being too heavy for the elastic you could make two channels (same idea but make a 1.5" tube and then put a seam in the center to make two .75" channels) for extra stability.

Question, you say to double the waist measurement, but how come the image at 1:09 says "4x waist measurement?" My waist is 28.5 inches so would the top half of the petticoat be 57 inches (doubled), or would it be 114 inches (times by 4)? Thank you!
@Zaolan1232 жыл бұрын
That was a mistake in editing. The upper half should be twice your waist and the bottom half should be 4x your waist. So if your waist is 28.5 inches, the top portion should be 57 inches and the bottom should be 114 inches. Sorry about that!

Instead of doing a zipper and a hook closure, is it possible for me to replace that with elastic bands?? Including in the leg cuffs? My pants are going to be for a cosplay that I have to stuff and make poofy. I'm scared for everything snapping out of place or going wrong some how. 😅 Also, what kind of thread did you use for your needle and bobbin?
@Zaolan1233 жыл бұрын
You could totally use elastic instead of having it fitted! Keep in mind to leave a little bit of wiggle room to be able to get it on and off. This will make it gather a little bit instead of laving flat. The thread i use is just all-purpose polyester thread. The brand i normally get is Gutermann. Good luck with your cosplay!

@Zaolan1233 жыл бұрын
Oh no worries! I think I may have actually dropped a step while editing this. The curved edges that get sewn together become the front and back center seams. the straight edges left open need to be sewn together next. Fold the shorts so that the center seams are on top of each other, then go straight across those open straight edges. This will make the legs holes. Sorry that was unclear! Hope this helps!
