Burgess Farms

Burgess Farms

Hey my name is Austin Burgess, I’m 24 and from South Carolina. I started farming 5 years ago in the chicken and row crop side of farming. I grow 108,000 chickens 4 times a year and me and my cousin row crop around 1,000 acres of corn,cotton, and peanuts together. I’m going to take you around and show you what we do day to day to keep the farm running as smoothly as possible. Thanks for tuning in and I hope y’all enjoy!

    While i was watching you check the feed silos...a question came to mind. What is the feed consumption like for your 30,000 birds?

  • @burgessfarms6992

    With all 3 houses at the end of the flock it ranges between 1.1 and 1.3 million pounds of feed in about 62 days the chickens will go through

    Those KMC's are hard to beat. I use a 4200LP. I'm curious why you cake before you windrow? If I don't leave cake in my windrows they don't heat up

  • @burgessfarms6992
    @burgessfarms6992 Жыл бұрын

    The only reason I windrow is to pull the middles out so we can go to the field with the litter. I only windrow 2 times a year so right before we start planting corn I’ll pull all the middles out of the houses and then take the windrower and kick the side walls into the middles and then box blade everything back out.

  • @memorios3381

    I just rake the corners and use the windrow machine to take big cake in corners the use the tiller or the blade to push the litter back an level with the blade but I done it different ways in different farms
