  Had a favorite bass pond with 5 and 6 lb largemouth but last summer was so hot and dry the pond became a puddle and killed most of the fish save a few bluegills. It's a bummer but there's still grapevine lake and a number of other ponds and creeks still putting out plenty of fish

  I agree it is necessary for longer casts. But, on short casts it just isn't needed for some types of fishing. Bass don't care for a pretty loop foe example or a fly smacking down. On a short 20 or 30 ft cast it can be pretty stiff in most cases.

  Also consider the stanely french press at almost half price. It does have a stainless liner, metal lid that will leak if leaned over, and doesn't have nonslip. Does keep coffee warm for quite awhile.

  Is the Orvis mono similar to the Mason hard mono? I use to use the Mason for saltwater fishing.

  It's not quite as stiff as the Mason hard mono but not as soft as the Mason soft.

  Is floating line fine with 9 foot 6-8lb leader of normal mono or fluro to through clousers minnows and poppers also how durable are those clousers minnows they should last a good season or 2 right?
