good job!
Thanks!
So, it sounds like we use the ignition key
I shoot sitting down and also keep my bow between my legs so I've never had this issue sitting down is better then standing for blending in more comfortable aswell but hey it's nice to see another hunter who draws right ill never take advice from anyone who skydraws
Funny, because people give my crap for drawing across my chest all the time (which to me is the smoothest way to draw engaging your large back muscles rather than your shoulder muscles)
@WeekendWoodsmen it's the best 👌 specially for white tail hunting one smooth motion people who give you crap for it are not very exp hunters bro
I know there's a lot of times the deer will get more spooked if you are quiet and try to hold still. Oftentimes you can talk to them gently and even wave a little bit. And it relaxes them. The more stalkey you are,,, the more paranoid they become. 🌾😆🌾
There’s truth to that!
No facemask? What's with the red or orange thing around your neck? Both are like a neon sign at night in the desert to a wild turkey. And yeah I've missed before and it sucks but I learned.
The glasses and beard cover the mask. And turkey don’t give a crap about color as long as it isn’t moving, it’s orange.
❤THANK YOU. !!!!!!
Thanks for the comment!
The deer looked thrilled...
🤷🏻♂️
Never make eye contact!
Thanks for the comment!
I usually go easy on people when i see they are inexperienced hunters. In your case, people like you get on the internet and give real hunters a bad name. The fact you made a bad shot because you felt moving your camera was more important, that shows us all you need to pick either hunting or making youtube videos. Not both. The common knowledge that deer drop at the shot is one of the fundamentals at hunting. This is part of basic hunters safety course curriculum. It is right between the part about putting meat on ice so it does not spoil, and unloading your shotgun before hopping a fence. You honestly need to reevaluate why you are bow hunting and make better choices. I do not make internet content about hunting. In 2 decades of hunting, I have had 2 deer make it past 40 yards. Both were dead by 100 yards. Never had a deer i did not find after shooting. Its a shame you are not serious about being an ethical hunter. As to the content of this video, deer drop at the shot. Everyone knows this. Even shooting something slow like a shotgun or muzzle loader at 100 yards they have time to drop. Aim just behind that spot where the shoulder first starts to bump out as the leg comes up. Try and do it in an angle to not ruin the quarter behind it. Youll either shoot the heart, miss cleanly low, or double lung a high shot or a shot that a deer drops hard. Your center mass idea is profanely rediculous. No 3d target depicts this. No one EVER says that in a hunting magazine or show. Center mass is something you hear listening to james yeager swear about guns. You truly are an example of the fact equipment does not replace skill.
I knew better and I made a mental mistake, which is why I was too high on my hold. The camera played no role in me not taking a shot. I had 2 lanes. The one I was set to shoot in and the one I shot in. I knew this because you have to mentally prepare for everything and know exactly where your shots are so you are ready. There was no shot prior to that and I didn’t want to stop the deer with a noise when he had literally just spend the last 20 minutes slowly eating acorns, thought for sure he would stop in that lane, but he didn’t, that’s hunting. I moved the camera, stopped him in my last lane and made a shot that was poorly placed. Read through the comments and tell me more good didn’t come of helping people understand how easy it is to make a mistake and how to learn from it. I also have hunted long enough to know that your statement of only having two deer go beyond 40 yards is an exaggeration. A heart shot deer will commonly run 100 yards on a dead sprint before dropping. Double lung can easily run 100-150, the distance a deer runs even on perfect shots is highly variable. I also highly doubt that you have never missed a deer.
Why have a curve
To follow the flower bed to our driveway
Great job and cute little baby!
Thank you! Not so little anymore 😬
Yup I never look em in the eye except for when I got a bead on them.
Nice! Thanks for the comment
Your points are good but man you have a pretty bad draw of your bow. Your elbow is under your nipple line and it really should be around eye level.
Hear that a lot but I really don’t see the point in using the smaller muscles in your shoulders when you can use the big muscles in your back and I also like to come into anchor from below rather than straight back. I have tried it, but never felt comfortable getting into anchor that way. And if a deer catches me mid draw it’s a heck of a lot easier to hold it when you are drawing lower.
I consider eye contact as the worst mistake possible Many times I will close my eyes with camera man telling me the deer eased with closed eyes
Seems to work!
Thank you!
Thanks for the comment!
This is good stuff. And this exact scenario has happened to me more times than I can count.
Appreciate the comment!
you should not aim center mass....center mass is the top of the lungs....zero room for error....who in the hell taught you to aim center mass....you must have wasted MANY deer aiming like this.......
I knew better but it is also an easy mental mistake to make, especially for people used to hunting with guns, hence why I made the video to help remind people and clearly it has helped people.
Thats so cool lol
Thanks!
Ik this is a year ago BUT AMAZING SHOT
Thanks!
Oh ! I thought you were going to run them through the prop 😂😂😂
Haha
I always close my eyes to a slit and wait!
It seems to work!
Great video. Good meat.
Thanks!
you killed it?
Correct
I wouldn’t eat that fish now
We watched for any signs it was past skin level
@@WeekendWoodsmencompletely safe if you cook it man
Consider closing your eyes and counting to 300. Or closing one eye. Because deer don't know what to make of one eye. This situation comes up enough that you can try several things and see what works.
Thanks for the comment!
I asked the ford dealership in indio ca about the in cab air filter and there were speech less. They didn't seem to be aware of this filter. Maybe my 2006 f-150 doesn't have one ? Replaced compressor but it doesn't perform well in the summer months.
Hmmm, I would be shocked if it didn’t have one
You don’t need this shit. Just put your rod holders at a 45 degree angle so your rod keeps your line far enough from the boat. I’ve never used a planar board and have never gotten my lines tangled together while trolling.
That will work with 2 rods, won’t work with 6-8
@@WeekendWoodsmen I’ve done it with 5 rods
@@UltraMagaFan would love to see a video of how you do it
@@WeekendWoodsmen You put 2 rod holders on the bow pointed perpendicular to the boat at 45 degrees, 2 rod holders on each corner of the stern pointed parallel to the boat at 45 degreees, then a rod holder in the center of the stern that puts your line high enough over the motor so that it doesn’t get tangled in the propeller. As long as you don’t make a sharp turn your lines wont get tangled. It’s not exactly rocket science.
@@UltraMagaFan what length leads are you running on the rods. What lure depth are you targeting? Tried that before maybe on a big boat it would work but when you are running 160 foot of line or even 300’ of line in the summer targeting fish down 60-65’ that will not work. Those lines will be right on top of each other especially in turns. Not to mention the pain when you are trying to target the same depth with all the rods and a fish hits and moves into one of the other rods. I will wait for the video since you obviously know everything.
How coastal societies have survived for 100,000 years without this device for catching fish is beyond me
Catching fish without it is no problem. Running 6+ rods off a small boat without them is a challenge
That was as ethical as could be The antis are a pain in our asses.
ppl always have something to say!
@WeekendWoodsmen true and alot of the time they don't know crap about what they are sticking their nose in.so butt the hell out leave hunting comm.alone.
I’ve always been a swimmer but this makes me not want to swim in natural waters
You have very little to worry about
They don’t tend to bite humans because we have warm blood, but it’s not hard to get them off you worse case you would have a tiny cut from the lamprey!! :)
@@trippedddd still sounds like a bad dream! haha
I believe, no further than 25 yards! ❤
Surprisingly close to 125!
Once they catch, your eye, they’re gone came over
Seems like that more often than not!
Thank you for the knowledge of diaphragm calls I've always enjoyed turkey hunting as a kid &teenager! I always had someone with me to call which was nice to be able to just focus on hunting the turkey unfortunately it meant I never got to learn to call until I became an adult and purchased my own. I was completely clueless to what I was looking at I knew the different style calls I had used box or striker I just like the convenience of hands free calling you can do solo. Cut to the chase as my begining call I bout a triple reed with two I shaped cut out and another triple combo cut and taught myself so I'm very curious to go get a single or double NO CUT and see what I can practice doing better next like gobbling.
You are welcome! I always go back to the single Reed no cut anytime I am trying to learn new calls and work my way back up. Especially purrs and more of the finesse calls! I haven’t learned gobbling yet, so let me know how that goes! Thanks for the comment!
Woodsmanship, knowing your ground, sounding like a turkey, patience, and being aggressive at times, along with making the shot count all coincide together to create success.
Well said!
that's funny cause all mammals duck automatic reaction to an event that is perceived as stressful or frightening, that or your brain dead, good video most people don't think of these things
Thanks for the comment!
This helped a lot
Glad to hear it! Thanks for the comment!
Joke: very graphic and disturbing we shouldn't kill animals for meat cause that's cruel, instead we should get meat from the grocery store so animals don't have to die
lol - well played
These idiots with their decoys...don't be proud of this......that's not real turkey hunting
Speaking of idiots 🪞
Beautiful bird.
Sure was!
@@WeekendWoodsmen is there good public land to turkey hunt out there for Rio’s? I just need one. Lol. I live in upstate NY and got my fill of easterns. The wife and I are moving to Florida this summer so I’ll be chasing Ocseola’s. I’ll be starting my filming this fall in Ohio for my outdoor KZread channel.
Very interesting method! What type of scissors or sheers did you use?
Thanks! I think they were the cheapest ones I could get at target!
Hey man very imtr
You people are twisted
Pun intended?
All 3 gobbled at the same time😮💨
And the 2 Jakes with them on that second clip! Just couldn’t fit them all in the frame!
Okay boys what are you going to do 🥺😁😧😊🦃
3 longboards on one hunt were lucky to see one longbeard in 4 years
This year was the first year that felt like a bit of a bounce back!
@@WeekendWoodsmen ya birds have declined bad in a lot of states
Can your bleed out a dead fish?
That snood though
Right!
it happens to the best of us. if you haven't missed a wild turkey, you haven't been hunting very long. it's part of the game!
True! Thanks for the comment!
Hunters are some of the most negative people in the world and most of you are just mad because you can’t kill a turkey
💯
SO IN DEPTH I CAN'T BELIEVE IT THE SECRET
What motion system are you using then?
Guys, keep a call or two in your truck or car. Its the best place to practice. Everywhere you go, practice practice practice. This is a skill that is not totally necessary but is super fulfilling to get and does have some advantages in hunting situations. Don't get discouraged if it take's literally months. Nothing good happens fast.
Great advice! Also, I have been working on it for 10 years and still have a long way to go.
