I want to give you a glimpse of Newfoundland and Labrador as I tour around the coastline on my Fisher 37. Every day on my boat brings excitement, challenge, awe, and so many WOW moments; some of which I have been able to capture with my video and photography. I hope you enjoy!

In the 80s, I absorbed the phantom pain that lingered in many of the abandoned bays of Notre Dame... this after Black Island: Autumn cliffs resound gulls delight, salted spray flights of puffin whirr away.
Great video Ed! Stunning vistas of beautiful, remote places that few are fortunate enough to visit. Insightful, personal description of what resettlement was like from Barb.
Beautiful ! Keep up the great work 👍
Thanks for posting this video of the beautiful places alot of us will not get to see.Great work.
Wonderful Ed... GREAT to see another beautiful pictorial portraying the way we were. Your drone-work and moody music certainly presents "the" mood and perspective. Interestingly, I relay closely to the video, as with the others, having had visited so many of the settlements... most particularly, in 1967 with the CN Coastal Service on the White Bay- Green Bay run aboard the MV Hopedale and in 1971 with DREE on the Resettlement program, (canvasing communities to collect data and seniors' opinions) on the south coast and eastern half of the Prov (1971). Your video helps bring back very fond memories of places and people. THANK YOU.
Thanks Derek! That would have been quite the experience, especially to see what is left in many of theses communities.
Such wonderful glimpses into a time that is slowly slipping away from us. Truly transforming. As always, thank you... Marian 🇨🇦
Between Quirpon and St. Lunaire is the abandon community of Fortune which was resettled in 1972.
Just a great video and augmented with the inclusion of the beautiful Isle Au Valen and narration by island daughter, Barb Leonard King-my good friend and former colleague.
Thank you Hiubert. Barb did a great job. Her message was clear and precise!
Great video Ed.I'd loveto have visited some of those places.
This video says a lot about life on the Rock and the people who call it home. They who come before us, never let their memories and stories fade.Thank you for documenting this Ed O'Reilly.
Ed are you certain that is Exploits there at 4:10.?
No Sir; that is Petites!
Another great video about Newfoundland Thanks for doing this Ed. Please keep up the good work. And you deserve ‘ The Order of Canada ‘ for your devotion to ‘community’
Well done. It's good to see some resettlements being resettled or some of their structures renovated. Battle Harbour is a good example. Former residents are also renovating the historic church in Petites. Individual and collective actions such as these can help maintain a historical understanding of the lives of those who long populated these outports.
Great job. Bravo!
Ed, This is wonderful ! Love the music background. Congratulations on a very well done project!
Another beautiful video Ed! Thanks for sharing!
Great video Mr. O'Reilly and great job Barb Leonard. Thank you both.
Ed, this is an excellent video. I’d always wanted to sail in Newfoundland but I’m afraid the closest I’ll get is through your presentations. Which are uniformly well made, knowledgeable and easy to listen to narration and beautiful to see. I was sorry to see Chico is gone. We lost our Yellow Lab about 20 years ago and I still grieve.
ed, george wilson was my grandfather and i was 5 when my family (the last to leave) left Merasheen! Thank you for this visual love story!
My sweet boy Chico in the intro and at the ending! Thank you for mention of our sweet doggie. We miss him so very much and that added touch means so very much to us! ❤
Thanks Ed!
Thank you, Ed. You packed a lot of the residents into a short video. The two ladies were my favourite. John Pitcher, Toronto
Glad you liked it John!
Another great video Ed
Lovely Ed, but what's with the rooster.
haha! yeah, I hear ya!
The people, and the places, in Newfoundland are endlessly fascinating. Lovely use of B&W for your portrait photos. Thanks for sharing this wee film! Marian 🇨🇦
Great video Ed!!
Je me planifi une expédition à terre neuve labrador à 2025, maintenant je dois trouver une façon d'aller sur henley harbor votre vidéo me donne vraiment envie d'y aller
Absoloutly stunning videos, and journeys and adventure. Wow beyond amazing trip you made. Have you done this for 27 summers? What other areas have you sailed? I have so many questions. Thank you, Safe journeys , keep up the great work!
Thank you for your kind words. I have been to most parts of Newfoundland and the Southern portion of Labrador. But there are some many places in these areas that it would take two lifetimes. Keep watching my videos; there are 24!! Regards. Ed
My mother was born in Harbour Buffett and my parents were married in Oderin. This is a lovely video. Thank you for sharing.
I'm a Lake as well 😊 Placentia Bay is a beautiful place. My home.❤
Thank you!
Very cool. Thanks for sharing. My Mom was a Keeping from Sagona and my husband and I and our two young children made it there from Harbour Breton. We hitched a ride aboard Tiny Bubbles captained by Vince Snook who used to live on the island. Made the connection at Sunny Cottage as he was there playing the guitar for some folks from the care home as I recall. Amazing to visit the place I had heard so many stories about. Would love to go back on a visit to Newfoundland but it is a long drive to Harbour Breton and a long boat ride from Fortune! And iffy weather.
It's beautiful place! Thank you for your comments
Awesome video! I practically grew up in Kingwell ( Next to Port Royal) during the summers in the late 70's and 80's. No bay like Placentia Bay WHEN it's sunny 😊
Awesome . Just watched your video , the part on ODERIN Island , Katerina was reading what was on the cross .The name G lake made it , Gordon Lake living in St John's a very good friend of mine and maybe a family member of Katerina .Let me know if you would like to know more about this , take care , God Bless
Ed … as always your videos leave me speechless. It’s Christmas Day and Greg and I are watching your sailing documentaries. You are amazing!!! A gift to the histories of NL
Thank you so much Kelly! I’ll be back at it this summer! Headed to Innsbruck for a little sling!
Awesome work Ed
Cemetery appears well cared for
Great drone footage!
When I was there in 1963 I spent as much time as I could on the South Bay and Burin, Marasheen, Red Island and St. Kyren's. Everything my father told me about from his youth in 1920 and 30's was still the same in the outports. I was fortunate to be able to bring some things they needed from the PX on the Navy base where I was stationed. Cap'n Rick, Port of Lewes, Delaware. My mentor was Sterling Hayden
I was there in 1963, came by CNN Ferry from Argentia, the church was still standing and the paths were well groomed. Was a guest of the Millers and went trout fishing in the lakes above. I missed the ferry and was transported back in a punt( Make & Break) to Placentia. Stil have pictures of me and Neich Miller. We fried them up in bacon grease and ate them like bacon. Visited a few other houses and they all wanted to know about President Kennedy like he was my brother. They all had pictures of him hanging in the parlor! I am 78 now and still remember well.
wow! thank you for this!
At 6:06 on the video you can see the yellow house my mom lived in as a girl. The last photo of the fisherman was my Grandad, Hedley Priddle.
Just discovered your channel Ed, fanstaistc. Just returned from Placentia on my own boat to NS. This was was my 5th trip to NL. I go every summer and hopefully many more to come. I can see I need to get a drone!
Great video..I plan on sailing there soon.
Your drone footage is the best representation of Pushthrough I've ever seen. Thanks for taking me to the place where my family lived. I would love to visit.
could you link the drone you're using? your videos are so good!! thank you
haha the opening sequence with the dog "roaring" 😂
Chico - Williams Harbour Labrador. My first drone was a dji air but that met a watery grave. I now have the Magic 2 pro. Glad you are enjoying the videos. What do you think of Ron Jeremy the rooster???
Really nice job. I'm taking my girl Odyssey, a C&C 30 home this summer. My grandfather ran rum from St Pierre to Boston during prohibition, Dad was 13, uncle Cyril was 7, they were from Little Harbour. I wasn't allowed near a boat as a kid... mom's law! She was from Petite Forte. I'll be visiting many ports. I'm solo on this one, actually, I've been solo on the excursions of the past 24 yrs as no else handles the boat. Lol... Anyway, You have handed me a few "must see spots". I know a Mullaley lived in Oderin as well. There aren't many, but all Mullaley in North America, and close spelling are close cousins...a good lot of them hit here first in Placentia Bay.
Thank you for sharing your wonderful journey. My name is George Labrador
😃 P r o m o s m
Love your videos. We are sailing to the South Coast next summer. My Father was from Gambo. We hope to spend 2 seasons at least there. My cousin Sue Rendell knows you and told me to check out your videos and get in touch.
Nice to hear you like my videos. have any questions please message me via Facebook! say hi to Sue!!
As a Newfoundlander that left my home in the late 90´s after the codfish moratorium your films take me home. The mixture of story telling, still shots and aerial photography are done with great sensitivity.
Another great video, thanks!
