    Spendid playing! I've also found dynamics and articulation a bit difficult, but the key is to relax and really put in effort in the "soft energy".

  • @hstanekovic
    @hstanekovic2 ай бұрын

    Yes, first practice hard and then when you learn it, you must relax and play musically. It's more or less the same with every piece. It's good that you have succeeded in this. The problem is if you try to learn something that is beyond your current capabilities and then you can't achieve the relaxation phase.

    My paper scores on the piano are full of fingering annotated with the pencil. The numbers are often erased and rewritten as I work on a piece. I recommend you to do the same. You can copy the fingering from the screen to your paper score, section by section as you practice it. The time to copy the fingering is short comparing to the time necessary for practicing/learning. The video is full HD and the fingering is easy to read when you watch in full-screen. Sorry for not offering any instant solution. Also you can try to take the screenshot and print it.

    @@MitchBoucherComposer Before I started to learn from WTC, it was easy to answer this question: I knew only Prelude and Fugue in C minor (I heard them playing in some video games or MIDI files), so they were my favorites :) When I started with WTC, I preferred Preludes over Fugues. As I learned more and more, the list of favorites only grew. Now, almost anything. Each one has its unique qualities and emotion. For instance, I love: - how playful is no 3 in C# major (both Prelude and Fugue) - how elegant is D major Prelude and how grandiose is its accompanying Fugue (no 5) - how beautiful are harmonies in D minor Prelude and Fugue (no 6) and how Prelude "breaths" in a really special way - how emotional and lyrical is Prelude in Eb minor (no 8) and its accompanying Fugue - how simple and carefree are E major Prelude and Fugue (no 9) - how at first tragic and then agitated is E minor Prelude (no 10) and this agitation continues in the Fugue ... continue the sequence ... - how deeply tragic and meditative is Bb minor Prelude (no 22) like a prayer of a sad soul and similar emotions continue in the Fugue Now, enough with my talk!

    Thank you. I did not learn the fugue (yet), essentially for the same reasons: it's long and in 4 voices. Fugues in more than 3 voices usually require a lot of time and the progress can be painfully slow. There are passages in which any chosen fingering does not feel comfortable. Thus, I'm choosing shorter fugues for now. However, I do not want to discourage you. If you feel motivated, go for it!

    Thank you for the feedback. As you certainly know, an organ can be registrated in many different ways so it can sound in many different ways. Moreover, different voices can use different sounds. Thus, the strength of expression of an organ can be close to an orchestra. However, when using a digital piano having only one manual and only one kind of organ sound, you are limited to what you have. This video is not intended as a replacement of a performance on an organ. It is intended for people having an acoustic or digital piano and the love for Bach's chorale preludes so that they can see some of the chorale preludes can be played on their instrument.

    You mean the tenth measure? D2 - F#3 in the left hand. It is followed by E2 - G3, but G3 is played using the right hand. It was a long time ago, however, I do remember it was hard to get it right. I do not have a particularly big hand, but usually, I can play the tenth in the slow tempo, with some practice. Often, I think if I would have only two or three millimeters longer fingers, it would be comfortable to play the tenth. But, I do not have so it is always kind of a struggle to play the tenth. Thus, let me try to give some advice. I hope they can help. I can play D2 - F#3 with the left hand. It does not feel comfortable, but I can. I put the first finger on F#3 very close to the nearer end of the black key and stretch it so that it does not strike D#3 or C#3. The fifth finger also strikes the white key close to its nearer end and it is practically parallel with the keyboard while the first finger is something like 45 degrees to the keyboard. If you can do that then all you need is to practice at a slow tempo. Memorize the whole tenth measure and practice it in a very slow tempo watching your hands. The right hand must work on "auto-pilot" so that you can concentrate on the left hand. If you can not stretch your left hand like that, there is a chance that by practicing you will be able to stretch your fingers a little more, but only a little more. Sorry, the physiology of your hand is the deciding factor here :( However, you can roll any chord that you can not play (play it like non-overlapping notes, from the lowest to the highest as fast as you can, using the sustain pedal). The sustain pedal can be very helpful in a way that it can sustain the musical notes while you can release their keys and position the hand in the next position.

    Hi ! Nice post ! I was looking for Canzona in D flat 588 fingering, this will help: use left thumb ok, I'l try tomorrow ;) Did you try 588 ? I use Hauptwerk too, beginner. If this account is still avaible please tell me if I can ask you for some issues - Christophe from Paris - thanks ;)

    Greetings to Paris! I'm not familiar with BWV 588. Since you mentioned it, I listened to it now. It's a lovely composition for organ. Regarding Hauptwerk, I was playing with it before same time and used it only for this video. I play the digital piano. Of course, not every composition for the organ can be played on the piano. This one was written for manual only, thus no problem. Also, I was able to play a few of Bach's choral preludes (written for the organ) on the digital piano using its built-in piano or organ sound and that required some complex fingering choreography (kzread.info/dash/bejne/l3up3MdtZ9iwnaQ.html , kzread.info/dash/bejne/h3pnlpqMoLCfndI.html , kzread.info/dash/bejne/ipl6qJqfj7ynntY.html , kzread.info/dash/bejne/l4d_xtese7eeoM4.html , kzread.info/dash/bejne/n5p5pdqGlNKbeco.html). However, the result can not sound so good as the original because on the organ you can play different voices with different sounds so you can emphasize the melody over the accompaniment.

    @@hstanekovic Thanks for the quick answer :) - Yes, Hauptwerk seems to be a very nice solution in deed, but I assume the copy I got is features-limited: for exemple I cant backup or program registrations. And the price for the full stuff is huge ! Still, they are cool to let us try it fot free. ;) My first tries : kzread.info/dash/bejne/n3h708qOXbieqZs.html

    I checked my copy of Hauptwerk. I have version 4.2.1. On the start, I can choose Free edition, which can be used for smaller organs/registrations. When I load an organ, I have Registration menu which contains a lot of options for loading and saving. The best thing is to download the manual for your version and check it for yourself. Your videos sound very good. You do not sound as a beginner at all. I suppose you will finish these compositions. Keep up with the good work! So you have pedals? As a keyboard only player, I envy you a little on this experience. :)

    @@hstanekovic No, no, you are much too kind, I was born into music, but I used to play clarinet, not piano. I love keyboards because of the huge repertoire, and the possibility of using vsts, which have become very realistic. I just play for fun, and I cheat a lot in those recordings !! - which is very easy whith MIDI DAW lol ;) . No pedalboard (too expansive): I use a small 43 keyboard for it, post-synchro recording. Does your registration backup /restore work ? In my case backup seems to work, but restore doesn't. I can see a message box but just in a blink so I can't read it. I suppose it's an error message.. Good health ! see you later here ;)

    Maybe, I can help a little. After some scratching of my head and reading the manual, I just saved some registration in Hauptwerk. The procedure is tricky and the manual is dry: 1) Pull the desired stops on the organ console. 2) Push the SET button on the organ console. 3) Select the desired stepper, for instance 000. You can do that by using many buttons on the Stepper toolbar (there are buttons for increasing/decreasing stepper number, buttons for increasing/decreasing first and second digit of stepper number and buttons for setting the third digit of stepper number). For instance, you can click on (xx0) button to set the third digit to 0. 4) Pull the SET button on the organ console. Now the registration is memorized for the selected stepper. 5) Next time when you select the stepper, the saved registration will be applied. For instance, when you click (xx0) button. Recording voice by voice is ok, it's not cheating. It's like an orchestra in which every instrument is played... by you. However, I decided to play only what I can play with my 10 fingers in a single recording. Best regards, see you.

    Yes, isn't it? Each piece in Forest Scenes is beautiful in its own unique way and they should be played more often. I like a lot the sentiment of this performance: kzread.info/dash/bejne/d52d3LCuhNa6ZKw.html

    Yes, it is unique. It is written in the Phrygian mode and without multiple independent voices (it's more like melody plus accompaniment style).

    There is a website where 2 professional musicians listened to a piece written by a human and a piece written by Artificial Intelligence and tried to guess which was which. They thought that this piece was A.I.
