  This performance achieves something so rare...thrilling and yet totally inbounds with the composers wishes. Can we say that Etienne Dupuis is the "Fischer Dieskau" of the French rep?.. yes he sure was on this day.. And as Fred Astaire said " No no they can't take that away from me" You had a performance recorded in high quality to immortalize your achievement Congratulations on reaching a moment of utter perfection

  All the people who are falling over themselves to praise this performance, probably have never heard a great performance. It's so uneven, and just weak, and jumping around doesn't make it better. A nightclub performer, maybe. Or a cruise ship singer. There are great singers around, he's not one of them in this performance.

  J 'ignorais qu' il existait une partition de werther pour baryton, je suis surpris sur la manière aisée dont est conduite l'interprétation de cet air alors que pour nous ténors il s'agit de l'exercice le plus redoutable de l'ouvrage .

  Second-rate voice, maybe good enough for musical theatre: shallow and unanchored. Relies on a silly staging to sustain one’s interest because he can’t do it as a singer. He should listen to Tito Gobbi’s recording and then give up.👎👎

  Not keen on the choreography! Overdoing the comedy. Watch Herman Prey on his video of The Barber. It IS perfect for me, as a non singer just as a lover of the Opera! Plus, the inimitable Dmitri Horostovsky in concert performing this is AMAZING!

  You are so ignorant. Park and bark??? Gobbi moved and acted better than this guy ever could. You typify the clueless, low-standard bad taste of today’s opera audience. You pay to watch Eurotrash and Gelb’s HD movie theater trash and you are impressed. This guy [a tenor, by the way] couldn’t kiss the asses of the likes of Gobbi, Prey, Bastianini, Milnes,Merrill, Taddei, MacNeill, Quilico, Colzani, Elvira, Manuguerra, Cappuccilli and on and on. They will be remembered long after this lightweight fades.

  Vocalità sbiancata , apertissima poco adatta all’arte lirica vera . Basta coprire il suono e questo bravo ragazzo vedrà come cambierà la sua voce . il vecchio

  @@ComteAnckarstrom Temo che è un po’ tardi per diventare un tenore… Questa non è una vocalità lirica vera . Per chiudere il suono ci vuole del lavoro tecnico serio …. Se trova un bravo maestro può diventare anche tenore di operetta… 👍
