There wasn’t a single play where he didn’t fall forward. I never heard of this guy before 30 min ago but my goodness I’m feeling like a casual fan right now. He’s a truck!

Neal, Alstott and Peyton HILLIS all in the same backfield to grind opposing defenses in dust.

My all time favorite Notre Dame player. Relentless, brutal, and aggression that made every game entertaining. If you watch his last collegiate game game against Colorado, he was a man amongst boys. If not for the phantom call against the Irish , the should have been NC.

I’m going to repeat what I said , as scaryhandsome60 must have deleted my response to him. I think I figured out who narcissistic “handsome” really is 🤣👍. Gastineau was better than Howie, without question. I watched both of their careers, in total. Howie played longer, and so sorry, I always believed Howie was overrated. If you look at the peak 5 years of both defensive lineman, it is without equivocation a fact that Gashineau, is better by every metric. Howie was moved all over defensively, because he was not fast enough to play end consistent against every team, every snap. He was effective against the run, and was excellent for many years. Marks role was to destroy the quarterback which he did, better than anyone for 5 years in his era. He was also quite good at taking down backs in the backfield and chasing them down before they crossed the line of scrimmage or got to the second level. I asked Anthony Munoz, back in the 80’s, when he visited our deli in Tbousand Oaks. He told me that Gastineau was the most difficult at defensive end to handle, never mentioned Howie.

The hit he put on Chuck Long of the Lions was the most brutal ferocious sack I’ve ever seen, the second was Manley demolition of Danny White at RFK stadium. Have no idea how both quarterbacks survived those sacks 😮

The Saints were so loaded at running back in the late 80s. Rueben Mayes, Dalton Hilliard, Barry Word, Buford Jordan. 1987. Wicked team.

1991 - FSU vs LSU - a bad snap on an extra point and Brad Johnson throws a pick. William Floyd runs 90 yds to tackle the runner before he can get the 2 point score. Without a doubt, one of the greatest plays I've seen in person from the sidelines.
