90???? You're being way too generous. From what I see these days, it's more like 75 with a health span of only 55.

Thank you for this fantastic video. Many of the points you brought up resonated with me; especially, after a very difficult day at the office today. My gut instincts weighing "fight or flight" tell me to run especially after the loss of five people (family members and two very close friends) in less than five years. I want to read more than 150 books before turning that last page.

90 years might be an average life span on developed countries such as Japan, but certainly not in the US.

True, It has never been easier to understand how to build your money after retirement than it is right now with the inflation, when you may study and experience a completely variegated market passively by employing a successful portfolio-advisor. The impacts of the U.S. dollar's gain or fall on investments, in my opinion, are complex.

Due to my demanding job, I lack the time to thoroughly assess my investments and analyze individual stocks. Consequently, for the past seven years, I have enlisted the services of a fiduciary who actively manages my portfolio to adapt to the current market conditions. This strategy has allowed me to navigate the financial landscape successfully, making informed decisions on when to buy and sell. Perhaps you should consider a similar approach.

After reaching financial independence at 59, I found the thought of reporting to another poorly trained 'X' or 'millennial' middle manager, whose default move is to throw their direct reports under the bus, a pox upon my house and soul. Oh, BTW, there are no jobs.

Great video, Another factor to add is Do they spend a lot of time planning their financial future? The stock market is making me really worried because I've lost over $ 27,000 in just this month and I'm not making as much money as I used to. This is making me concerned that I might not have enough money saved up for my retirement since I can't add to my savings.

To ensure a comfortable retirement, it's advised to save a minimum of 20% of your income in a 401(k). by doing so , you increase the likelihood of retiring with sufficient funds. Moreover, this strategy enables you to leverage the stock market's potential and expand your retirement savings as time progresses.

Retirees who struggle to meet their basic needs are the ones who could not accumulate enough money during their active years to meet their needs. Retirement choices determine a lot of things. My parents both spent same number of years in the civil service, but my mother was investing through a wealth manager, and my dad through the 401k. My mom retired with about 4.2 million, but my dad retired with roughly 1.8 million.

`This is true. I'm in my mid 50's now. My wife and I were following this same trajectory. Last two years, I pulled out my money and invested with her wealth manager. Not catching up with her profits over the years, but at least I earn more. I'm making money even before retiring, and my retirement fund has grown way more than it would have with just the 401(k). Haha.

It's unfortunate most people don't have such information. I don't really blame people who panic. Lack of information can be a big hurdle. Doesn't matter if the economy is misbehaving; great wealth managers will always make returns.

It's a proven fact that people who continue working (or volunteering) actually live longer. You can still read books in the evening and weekends. You can see friends and family in the evenings, weekends, holidays, and vacations. Working longer also eases current and future financial stress, and allows you to defer SS until age 70 at which time lifetime benefits are 32% higher.

Another tried and true tip for preventing Baby Boomers from becoming poor in retirement that I can unequivocally bear witness to involves becoming truly financially literate. This entails being or becoming keenly aware of all of one's money transactions as well as habitually practicing prudent money management skills. Granted, this may sound too cerebral for most, but once implemented there's likely to be significant changes toward being able to live comfortably, avoid scams and thrive in many facets of retirement life.

Healthy and vigorous throughout my 72 years. A recent troika of bronchitis, COVID, and an emergency appendectomy in mid February, necessitated 3 weeks of enforced bedrest.very deconditioned as a result. After medical clearance, i really focused my efforts on slowly regaining strength, muscular and cv endurance, and sound nutrition. In 4 months of 6 x/wk training, i regained and increased fitness/health prior to the sx. It was very humbling to begin training again at such a diminished capacity; but i listened very closely to my body, and slowly progressively built up my condition. Walking, biking, weights, stretching. Didn't want to succumb to a sedentary L/S. Looking forward to overseas travel next year. Good medical care saved my life.

Retirement is not a choice because when you are old you will likely be retrenched or replaced by AI. Accept the reality. You need good health and good savings at retirement age. Without either one you will be miserable. Therefore if you only think of this when you are 50, it could be too late.

I can easily save a lot more money without having a Costco Card, shop Grocery Outlet Stores WOW deals and buy what I know I will use in bulk. I buy a few items at Trader Joes. Other than that, I shop at home from my stash of food preps, so going to the store is optional. I grow fruits and veggies in the garden or buy organic from Winco. For me, shopping is optional. I go to the School of Dentistry for dental Care once every few years if I break a tooth. Being a mindful and frugal Prepper is the best way to mitigate inflation and shortages. I do not use a Medicare supplement, hospitalis write off the difference not covered by Medicare if one's income is less than $40,000.00 a year and have limited assets. Eat a plant-based, whole foods organic diet. I stopped going to a Senior Center, far too political. My local museum also provides a location for many different groups. The Dept. of Recreation provides many classes. Make use of free entertainment, concerts, festivals and the like. The Ferry System offers reduced priced rides for Seniors I really enjoy. Having periodic Days Out, costs a lot less than conventional vacations. Have hobbies that save you money.

She really only had about 10 years of a quality retirement before dementia started to show at 75, she went into high care in a nursing home by 79 and passed away at 82. She saved and planned for her retirement for many years and made wise investments. She was very healthy and vibrant. It was such a tragedy, so much of her savings went to paying for her 24/7 care.
