For a person who lives in fla but has a small farm near cherokee where i rent my six acres for some cows this was a very informative video. I am doing the best i can to improve the pasture and i am seeing progress but rotational grazing is out of the question. Cows leave in november and come back on april first. Aeration in march showed some noticable improvement. Easily digestable presentation. Thank you.

Since corn comes from Native Americans, maybe we should take a page out of their book. For example, Hopi corn is planted at a depth of 18 inches, yes you heard that right. It is not irrigated. By the way, the Hopi lands receive about 6” of rain. Put that in your pipe and smoke it.

Don't forget you can eat the leaves of some of these especially cowpeas and amaranth. I'm always looking for every opportunity to add more greens into my diet as a nutritionist.

My great grandfather farmed ginseng in Mars Hill a hundred or so years ago. I've always wanted to grow it, but it's such an investment! If y'all could come up with a program to distribute plugs or seeds, that would be awesome!

I just watched the mountain range that was loaded with old growth ginseng across the creek get stripped for x-mas trees & wind mills that we as a community shut those plans down for now ( windmill )...

Christmas trees create cancer. Ashe county nc has the highest cancer rates in nc. Tree farmers just destroyed 20 acres nearby. They sprayed the areas directly above the new river killing every living thing. Criminals

I guess the trick is to make biochar in winter and harness the energy output for heating the building, but that's going to be quite a big bunker for collection, and the question how one would keep it going for days at a time.

As far as poultry goes, as a row cropper who produces organically and regeneratively, I find the best way to get the benefits for the farm, is just to let anyone who wants to do it come on in and do it. Give it away, and get more. Individually, they can pasture process and stay under the state maximum.

Hi Bob. Great videos. A quick question... I got interested due to rice farmers where I'm living in Central Vietnam burning the crop residue after harvest. It's understandable as they can burn off a field in a couple of days and move on to tilling it and preparing the fields for the next crop. But its a big health hazard. Would your biochar retort work with crop residue. Thanks again. Nick

Something you could do to ensure your char does not ignite ... put a few inches of course sand or fine gravel at the bottom , between the drums , before adding the fuel wood .

This should be mandatory for every Illinois farmer to watch. 4 people died, 8 were injured in a soil erosion, wind blown road dust storm last Spring on an Illinois highway. Illinois is pitch black after Halloween until May of the next Spring. Oh yea, there’s no pheasants anymore virtually in Illinois!
