    For a 15,000+ sq ft home, the stair banister is paltry and unfit for a home of that size. Some of the details make this home appear as an oversized track home..

    @@livinginslc Honestly I have been looking for about 3.5 years now and it seems like pretty much every other state in the country with the exception of California, Hawaii, New York, and Washington Seattle area....is better value than Utah. Half a million minimum for a 90s fixer upper in dangerous ugly West Valley City is beyond ridiculous. Places like Texas have so much better value for what you spend. I have loved growing up in Utah but the greed here has made the place unattainable for most.

    I'm so glad I don't live in Salt Lake City anymore. There's smoggy inversions in winter, toxic dust storms in summer, gun wielding road ragers, and bigots who tried to burn my house down because I'm gay

  • @porterschildmeyer654
    @porterschildmeyer6549 күн бұрын

    Things that didn't happen for 100. Yes the air quality is horrible, there's not a lot of water, but burning your house down, most likely didn't happen. Here's why I'll tell you it didn't. Utah is still small enough that that would have been on every single headline and every newspaper every television show and you would have been interviewed a million times. You see people in Utah don't like hate crimes. You might have weird Mormons that don't approve of LGBTQ. But there's not that many bigots here. You just walk around with your victim mentality and think everybody's after you. But I can guarantee you your house wasn't almost burnt down. I'm in a news family and that has never been a story. Cuz it would have been if it was a man that had is house burned down or almost burnt down for being LGBTQ. Stop lying and playing a victim.

    I don’t understand the argument about the cost of housing. That particular problem (renting and owning) is a world wide phenomenon! Same thing with groceries, durable goods, transportation, etc. As someone that travels for work I can tell you is the same everywhere. Want cheap affordable housing? Travel back in time or move to an area no one wants to live in, but you may find without good job prospects and living in the boonies.

    But even in the Salt Lake Valley you still have a lot of conservatives it's kind of half and half it's not as liberal as people think it's more half and half in the Salt Lake Valley I mean you've got probably more more conservatives actually in the suburbs but in downtown it's kind of half and half it's not as liberal as people think it is it's very much half and half and conservatism really does dominate the state which I love

    Im a political refugee from NYC . I do miss the Cigar lounges, Pizza, Nightlife, Home Wine Deliveries and conveniences of a larger city, but Utah has a plethora of outdoor and recreational activities that offset its shortcomings. The long winters will take some acclimating towards but the people are great and the quality of life is much better overall. So, I'll be the nerdy paragraph guy who talks about the benefits of grid or numbered streets. While winding or straight roads with only street names and not numbers are more pleasant, it's easy to get lost in a new area without a map or satellite navigation. Much time is spent just finding which end of Oak Street you're searching for. Or was it Oak Avenue? Or Oak Drive? Even a delivery person can mix up mail between these similar streets. Roads (both winding and in a grid) which include street numbers (with or without street names) can indicate the cardinal directions and distance from the main street or center of a town. These ensure that I won't get lost and won't need a map or sometimes questionable navigation. Think of this being organized as an XY axis quadrant. A center or main street can have any name but it exists at the zero point of an East/West or North/South axis, or perhaps where both meet at the actual center of a city. It's like a local lat/long geolocation. It's efficient. Yes, it's boring, but no other house or business or dot in the XY quadrant in that city can be confused with yours. If I'm in a city for the first time and I find myself at an intersection of a south street and an east street and am looking for 215 North 300 West, I know I need to drive northwest. No Siri is needed. As I drive, I'll see the street numbers decrease until I reach a center street or main street, then see the numbers increase as I drive further away from that zero point of the axis. I can enjoy driving along several streets from the other end of the city until I reach 300 West, without worrying if each one is the tree street or presidential street that I wanted. Once on 300 North, I do what everyone does and follow the increasing or decreasing street numbers and then the increasing or decreasing house numbers until I reach the house with 215 North as its house number. One side of the street will have odd house numbers and then even on the other side. If the street numbers are larger than 300, I know I passed it and need to turn around. So, there's my two cents. Maybe someone will enjoy reading it or maybe not.
