    Ok dude you actually solved the exact issue I was looking for. My one question is do you have issues with the whole panel falling off of the back of the pack when fully loaded. Do you intend to affix the diy panel to the back panel of the pack itself?

    Glad it helped you! I have no issues with it so far! I had intially thought about cutting a hole in the organizer panel for the little velcro tab on the back of the UA21 to pass through, but it has worked well so far without it. If you watch this video, I go over how the pack is setup and gets used: kzread.info/dash/bejne/ZXtm05uqY8nAmZs.htmlsi=H82FuIpET1lFy96U

    AND…if you go custom sheath, go custom knife. My custom sheaths cost more than most knives do. $300 for my custom sheath. But my custom knife cost me $1300. At first, I would scratch my head why people are paying $200 on a sheath, for a knife that cost $150. But, your money. You do you

    Thanks for the review! As much as I love all of the Vanquest products I own, I think they missed the mark on one main aspect of this Tekko when it comes to CCW. The rear compartment having that zipper located where it is does not make for very quick and easy access to your CCW. I understand why they did that based on the strap attachment locations, but that was the deal breaker and why I ended up with the Eberlestock Bando instead when I was looking for a more CCW friendly crossbody. (To Vanquest's credit though, they do not really market the Tekkos as CCW slings)

    Sometimes it's the only option if you're a lefty. I usually make my own sheaths because of this but have a knife or two that are too nice looking to be paired with my handywork. I can make a sturdy functional sheath that doesn't look outright atrocious, but not one that truly looks beautiful and fitting of the particular knives in question. I don't like Ryder myself, it can scratch blades or dull edges if not done just right, and I really just prefer leather. None of my traditional belt knives are appropriate for kydex anyways.

    Clamshell packs weigh more because its more zipper. I prefer a top load with a zipper on the side to access what's inside the pack. I drop a trash bag in and the drop anything I do not want getting wet inside it and that fills the pack 1/2 way. The other 1/2 is some items like a cooking kit etc.... Anything I need easy access to is in the lid. I have never carried shoes in my pack I am wearing them. :) The pack I run is the KUIU PRO LT 5500 Pack

    Love that Connor pack!! But I might go for the ibex. Been looking at it alot lately. What size is your ?

  • @the_gear_shak
    @the_gear_shak27 күн бұрын

    The is the Ibex-35. I ran it as my hiking daypack for a good while before switching over to the Tarahumara and then finally settling on the Connor. The Ibex is a great pack, just was a bit more than I wanted for a day of exploring the hills and hollers around here. I use it now mainly as a suitcase and cargo pack on my motorcycle than anything else. The Connor is just the right size for me, and I like the built-in water bottle pockets more so than having them hanging off the sides of the Ibex. One downside is the waist belt is an additional purchase on the Connor where the Ibex is included

    @jamescrews3516 Thanks I appreciate the words! If you look back through my Packs and Bags playlist, I have a video showing my Connor loadout and my Tarahumara loadout. Those are pretty well the same as whatxI had in the Ibex-35 during it's time as my daypack, there was just more extra space

    The 6 liter bag is huge - too big. I own a large Dendrite bag. Much better as a sling bag. When a bag is too big, it is cumbersome to carry it on the front of your body. Do I care about the new logo? What do you think? 😖

    Is the tent comfortable while on gravel?

  • @the_gear_shak
    @the_gear_shak2 ай бұрын

    It is, no real difference than any other tent, though I will say I much prefer most other surfaces mainly to prefere excess wear on my gear. I use a piece of 10mil painter's plastic for ground mat, a Klymit Static V sleep pad, and then the black sleeping bag from the army modular sleep system. I have started sliding my Tuff Possum Gear sit pad underneath my sleep pad at my hips when on rough ground like this just to help prevent any extra wear. Thinking about going to foam pad so it isn't as much of an issue.
