@ThumpemupFishingchannel2 ай бұрын
Hey Jason, fishing is not a one size fits all sport, there are as many ways to fish as there are fish! Beginner’s will have a dinner experience pursuing fish that are easier and more plentiful to catch (e.g. trout or sandbass vs largemouth). Keep it simple and fun first then expand out to more complicated species and techniques. Many fisher people are more than willing to help out new anglers so don’t be afraid to ask for help!

I use a short rod for jigging vs. a longer rod…. For casting I use a 7 1/2’ plus rod, for jigging normally 6’ or less. Chunking I normally just use a jigging rod. I recommend a rod stout enough to put the heat on a tuna, don’t go with a lite rod or you will have a prolonged fight and a higher potential to lose a big fish!

@ThumpemupFishingchannel4 ай бұрын
1. The captain and crew will tell you the target species and the best way to catch them. Normally it’s squid for red snapper, vermillion snapper and whatever else bites. It may be freelining for kingfish etc. I normally catch pinfish for grouper and drop that first then switch if that doesn’t work. Tuna fishing uses poppers, swimbaits, chunk or jigs. Ask the deckhands and they will tell you. Best time to sleep is when the boat is moving from spot to spot. I normally don’t get much sleep!
