The Anglo sphere has shutdown the free speech of indigenous people terribly and promoted a white washed history since the beginning of colonisation. This is a classic discussion where you see yourself as objective and levelled headed. My take on letting kids be kids is letting children play child appropriate games, some freedom and do not burden children with things they are too young to understand. I agree discipline is not what it used to be and I think that's a good thing. Have we swung too far in the opposite direction? I don't know. I volunteer in the local primary school, helping children with reading problems, and I have never found that children are disrespectful or poorly behaved; other than normal "kids" stuff that is easily corrected.
