Solar By Green Greg

Solar By Green Greg, I educate homeowners about Home solar PV panels & batteries, Solar Pool Heating, and Energy efficiency. I help homeowners lower electric bills! Save money and save the planet! The Videos include product reviews, product comparisons, basic troubleshooting, solar maintenance, and expert advice. For example, recently did a video comparing Tesla Powerwall Vs other home solar batteries, solar panels remove & replace costs and ROI, solar edge inverter reset, etc . Solar panels for pool heating.. how it works, temperature, cost, etc. Energy Efficiency: I reviewed & discussed the setup of Pentair SuperFlow Variable speed pool pumps. Will be doing more energy saving product reviews soon. Thanks for watching.

    Hi Greg I am purchasing a house and the roof is nearing the 60yr expected life (no issues yet). I want solar panels asap to bring down energy costs and in the future I plan to replace the gas heating system with an electrical system (my preference at the moment is infrared panels). Would it be more cost effective to put the panels on when the roof inevitably needs replacing or are they easy/cheap enough to remove and reinstall?

    Hi Greg, we installed a 13kw solar system for a 2 person household. We are still receiving between $100-200/month electric bill in Maryland. Is this normal, and will installing a battery bring my electric bills down?

  • @solarbygreengreg
    @solarbygreengreg6 күн бұрын

    It depends why are you still getting billed this amount? I'm not familar woith MD utilities.. Someone will need to look at your utility bills .. But a couple possibilities 1) If you are using more electric than you are producing then you may need more watts of solar panels ... of course also make sure solar panels are not shaded-which reduces electric production. 2) If you are producing 100% of kWH used but still getting a bill .. you maybe getting credit for kwh sent back at wholesale rate but when take power from grid get charged retail.. or have time of use rates --times of night /mday/morning where electric rates higher -- this is when a battery can save money and lower your bill .

    I found out that my inverter didn’t have consumption meters installed and apparently that doesn’t allow me to make system changes with the app. I spent a lot of time trying to contact Solar Edge with no success and when I used their chat system it didn’t recognize my inverter serial number so it ended the chat several times. Frustrating!

    +1-510-498-3200 Is support number For inverter serial number On side of inverter you have to cases and 2 labels The inverter is the upper caee and upper label If you have a Storedge , energy hub or home hub Then you can get consumption monitoring The installer has to add CT’s fir consumption If you don’t have this type inveter SE offers an upgrade program

    The speeds vary. Depending on pool. and what your running … the idea for variable speed is you run just speed you need example speed 1 8 am filtering slow speed depending on your pool 1750-2250 2 hrs , speed 2 solar 6 hours 2400-2700 speed 3 cleaner 2 hours 2299-2700 Cleaner you need higher speed Solar higher than just filtering -don’t want too high because pressure bad for solar panels You just have to look at pool and see what’s a good flow make sure enough water movement … how many hours to run pool heater depends on how dirty the pool gets - ie open pool vs screened pool and gallons … if pool dirty you need more hrs or faster speeds ..

    We had a 12.5 kWh PV system installed last fall using Enphase IQ8A M-Inverters feeding a 4C Combiner box (Celluar and Wi-Fi Envoy). Our system was scaled to cover 125% of our average annual usage - the maximum our utility would allow. We now want to add ESS, I like the scalability of the 5P. We have a newer high efficient 1700 sq ft villa (built in 2019 with a 3-ton Lennox AC). Will 3 5P's provide "whole house" backup? Would a "soft-start" device improve things? And I love the app.

    I agree enphase has really upped their game …. We need a very big, ugly, heavy, safe, long lasting and inexpensive home batteries made of commonly available materials . A 50 kWh battery for less than $10,000 would store enough solar power to run the average home throughout the year. I’m in California where I’m paying $0.41 per kWh off peak. In the late afternoon and early evening on “smart event days”, I’m paying several times that. And, the prices we pay will only go up and up in the near future. The Chinese are selling whole cars with four times the energy storage of pitifully small and weak Powerwalls. Someone, please make us a big, ugly, heavy, safe and inexpensive battery! Hi from Illinois, we are talking to a rep from Powur, we were thinking of the "lease to own" option. It is 25 yrs . It with sunnova. I'm hearing mixed reviews. We are getting the battery back up. We cannot afford to buy at this time and the extra incentives for solar end this year in Illinois. That why we are thinking of yhe lease option. Yes the lease is transferable but sounds like it can be difficult if you need to sell you home. What are your thoughts? I appreciate your advise!

  • @solarbygreengreg
    @solarbygreengreg2 ай бұрын

    Are you going to be in home next 25 yrs? --or close to it? If not it can be difficult to sell a home with a lease ... buyers don't understand lease and don't want to take it over ... home seller ends up prepaying remaing term of lease.. Leases will often say you can buy out the solar at "fair market value" but how is that determined? Lease Co keeps tax credits and solar incentives.. I recommend doing a credit union loan or Heloc ... Yes interest rate will be high.. and payments maybe higher vs electric co but you can refinance later when interest rates go down... and you will save $10'000's ... by doing own financing you can save $10k-+ on front end and in long run will save most money and YOU GET TAX Credit and incentives not the lease co. Other issue is lease co will get cheapest equipment to increase profit... this lower cost equipment maybe limited features and shorter warranties .. more service calls .. here is video solar loan vs lease etc. ...kzread.info/dash/bejne/pJ6spbGyYrXWcrA.html.
