So, our dachshund is totally potty/house trained. Keeping him from jumping up like a rabbit though is kinda tough, however, he’s doing better with it, he does suffer from separation anxiety at times, we live in an apartment, he only barks when there is someone at the door or new people he sees. We trained our pup since 8 weeks and it’s working, he will be 2 years old September, even the vet says he’s healthy inside and out. It’s all about how you train, there must be patience, he loves the Doggie Hotel, shout out to Pet-smart.

I was a pack leader to my doxie for 15 years. He crossed over Sept of last year. Almost ready to do it again. What I love about the breed is that they have no sense of their size and will engage regardless. Also funny as hell!❤❤❤❤

I had dachshunds on the farm growing up. They all had strong prey responses and were always hunting. Unfortunately they’d pick fights with much larger animals which eventually got two of the three killed.

Best dogs ever! Our first was a red short hair mini I named Roo; we got a second when she was ten and Delilah, mostly called Delightful, was a long hair mini; our third is a long hair mini is named Chili, mostly bc of her color but turns out she is very chill, smaller than the others at 8.8lbs. All had different personalities and just full of love. Roo lived till 16, Delightful died suddenly at 6 on my lap, vet thinks it could have been a blood issue, and Chili just turned 2 a couple of days ago. We did hire a trainer for Delilah and Chili. Delilah, being older and more set in her ways, was a bit more stubborn. Chili is amazing with obedience! I never understood training a tiny dog but boy is it wonderful to have such a well behaved dog! Roo didn’t bark until she was 5 years old, Delilah was born barking I think and Chili is, like I said, pretty chill. Thanks to whoever read this. Really missing little Delilah lately. It’s been nearly 6 months but I keep thinking she’s going to come running into the room any second. Lovely dogs.

My Momcilo is a big breed of dachshund. His bark is very loud, like big dogs. He adores all of us, the whole family. He is as brave as a lion. Without stopping and thinking, he enters the animal's den. And last but not least, very charming behavior.

So amazing. I train my dogs with facial expressions, sign language (ASL), and words (phonetically). I found the ASL sign language for DOG is perfect for come. When saying NAME come, or Group come. Or panic voice come and sigh. Dogs have so many body languages I learned for pain, wanting to play, accepting of play movements with other dogs. Even vocal growls. Dogs if you look close will teach you what they say. Same, they like your body movements more than voices, but they love our voice. ASL NoNo one of the first signs, sit, lay down... they learn those signs alone with Working dogs are all good dog. Usually pets are good dogs, pets not to live a life with my pack, good boy, good girl. I use Name good dog, pack good dogs... to all.... NAME bad or correction command. Great teaching coaching.

Great information, not on this one but all. Please do one on the Great Pyrenees Livestock dogs if you did not do so already. I have had 3 passed now. Not going to get another. Great dog that needs protected. So thank you. very good vid. I got my first one at age 10. I have had 1, 2 or 3 over the years to having now totaled 7 in my 50's. Puppy training day 1 week home. Treats for tail pulled, treats for ears pulled, treats for muzzle inside closed hand. Lots of love and praise what a good dog. I C U what a good dog high pitched voice. That made a big difference to let children play with mine over the years. I rolled their cheek and lips under their teeth when they were bighting and "mouthing" when young and up to 2 years as rescues. Saying owww, ouch no. Making sad face and tone. They do seem to like to use their mouth more than most dogs to play and interact, even the licking thing. This was a great video. I hope you think it over and do a part software version 7.0 about them licking, nibbling, jumping up on your chest. All the of behaviors that put them in rescue that are not hard to resolve. I am a Alaska Sled Dog musher. USA Airborne paratrooper, Love military working, and other specific dogs. Even the Great Pyrenees. Such a good dog. Much like the dachshund. Lost's of work for the rewards of love and loyalty. I am close to the point now that I work from home 100% of the time Internet Network Engineer, of adopting a retired military service dog. I am Retired Paratrooper as well and have served with those few bread's of dogs in the Engineers. My family has been involved in animal husbandry for decades. I have not heard one word you have ever said that is not correct. Though I might have been a bit more aggressive with working jobs depending on situation. I am now in my 50's and a subscriber to stay informed.

First time Dachsie owner. Our puppy Baloo, is about to be 4mo’s, and is biting A LOT! he starts out sweet, and then goes aggressive. I owned a Rotty and he didn’t but this much. I’ve noticed he starts going for the hands when he wants to play. We exercise him, just not as much. Gonna keep that in mind.

I appreciate what you’re saying and totally understand it… unfortunately but FORTUNATELY! I got my darling girl well before this video. You didn’t say anything wrong and I was very lucky! My girlfriend slept (cuddled) with me from day one, and we were all overjoyed! She did bark at strangers, and couldn’t get her to stop and yes, separation barked to go outside, which amazed me, but I remembered the saying “don’t shitz where you sleep,” and loved her for it. She did bark constantly at strangers or during separation anxiety… even while she was swimming in the bath or the lake, which is where I lost her. Yes, devastating! I thank you for your videos and your care regarding these beautiful animals!

I can tell that everything I hear you teach is correct because is a lot of the same thing my husband and I did with our children when rearing them. Sweet love and consistent discipline! We noticed a lot of parents couldn’t let their “no” mean “no”! In all of choices as a parent to a child or a dog, we’re creating habits! They are either good or bad but with every choice, a habit is forming? We’re picking up our puppy on Mother’s Day and I am ready! Thank you for so many GREAT videos! I’m learning so much

We just got another mini Dachshund after we had to put down our 14 yr old. The reasons we wanted another one is because the really love people, and are loyal and very funny. Also, they do not need lots of exercise, which we like because we're seniors.

We had 4 dachshunds while I was growing up. When our first passed away we ended up adopting two adults and later got another puppy. They barked so much we couldn’t invite anyone inside. 2/4 of them were also aggressive. However, they were never properly trained or socialized. I moved into my own apartment recently and got a dachshund puppy of my own. I’ve been working with him since day 1 because I knew how difficult they can be. After he had all of his vaccinations I wanted to socialize him as much as possible with humans and other dogs. From the very beginning, he hated anyone/anything that wasn’t me. He barks at every dog on walks and every person he sees (even if they’re far away). He barks at noises in the midde of the night too. Like when the doorknob squeaks, when he hears a voice from upstairs, and even the ice maker. In this small apartment it’s so obnoxiously loud and it’s only a matter of time before I get a complaint😬 I know he’s smart. He catches on quickly with new tricks and he’s patient with food. He’s potty trained and he doesn’t chew on anything but his toys. He’s such a good boy other than being so vocal.🥲 Ironically, my mom has one of his litter mates and he’s the complete opposite. He’s SO QUIET but he was destructive at first. Obviously that was an easy fix and he’s such a good boy now… but I don’t know what to dooo🤦🏼‍♀️😅

We are about to get our second dachshund puppy next weekend. She will be eight weeks. I’m going to try this very strictly with her, for the time being due to her age, would I be best using puppy pads or a grass litter Dog box for her for the time being? And as she gets older, begin taking her outside? Or would I be better off taking her outside from day dot? Just worried due to her not being fully vaccinated yet. thank you for your video. Hopefully this encourages our first doxy to begin understanding a little bit more. He’s generally pretty good however he does have the occasional accident usually due to excitement. 🤍🤍

I have a dachshund and I do love her and she is adorable I would not get another in the future. She has been incredibly stubborn and difficult to train. She is potty trained, she sits, comes and heels. But that’s only when she feels like it. She is an independent thinker. I had to spend so much time and energy just making sure she finally grasped how to be house broken. Like I said cute dogs but there are so many other breeds with same positive qualities and none of the negative ones

Apparently it can be a test of patience to potty train a Cockapoo as well. (I had a Sheltie who was quickly trained.) Sigh. I’ve been being consistent and taking out so many times a day. I’m making notes of time and what he did. What I notice when I think I see a pattern he changes it up. I think he’s very stubborn.
