They are just very loose. Typically the top hat is tightly held down by the screw part of the clutch but here it’s the opposite, it’s a preference that some people have. My guess is it gives a trashier sound

Although I love Weckl too, Novak has more of a Vinny approach which is just Powerful and Groovy and Super Intense. A very underestimated drummer I think. Absolutely beast mode 💪👊❤ And the absolute best line up ever!
