Super great spot to unplug as there is zero cell service out there. Biggest things I would suggest is to make sure you top off your fuel at the last gas station before the park. There isn't anywhere out there unless you have a Jerry can. Use a vehicle with good high clearance. One of the members of our group went in a car and he made it to his campsite (one of the first ones) but ended up really beating up his car and getting a flat). Take a water jug. You can top it off at the restroom area but each site is a mile away from it and it gets further with every site. It's a pack in pack out so make sure you have extra bags to keep things from leaking when you pack it out for the travel out of the park. Town is like 40min. From the park so your traveling with it for a while till you get to a garbage spot. Comfortable shoes. It's a mile hike on rocky terrain from the parking spot to the river and all the really neat spots along the river are a good hike as well. sun block is a big one and aloe vera. Not a lot of places for shade so wear sun protection and take some stuff just in case you do get a small burn. No one wants to deal with that. Small first aid kit with bite spray. Since your so far from town and with zero cell service it's always better to be over prepared than under. Bring a towel. If u take a dip in the river you can naturally dry but the shower facilities are top not. Worth knocking some of the dust off for the drive home. Be prepared for rain. Those west Texas rain showers can randomly pop up and it pours. Out first night we got 2 inches of rain in 1.5 hrs. It was like a faucet. Also make sure your tent isn't downhill. We made that mistake not thinking to much since it was such a drive out there we just wanted to get set up. But we really paid for it as the water went downhill and collected at the tent. Sure enough the tent held up from the rain but the water collecting from the runoff slipped in. It's a rocky hard ground so a tarp is a great idea to protect your sleeping pads or a cott. I know I'm listing out alot of stuff and some maybe overthinking but these are things we really learned from our last trip down there. Especially since you are completely unplugged with no cell service up untill you get back to the highway(by the way you will lose service at the turn off the highway either print out a paper map or just keep trust the dirt road. Itll feel like you're getting lost but 20mi. Later your at the park entrance), and away from a any city so you are pretty much on your down. It's a wonderful beautiful park full of fantastic views and one of theost beautiful views of the Stars. We can't wait to go again and it's just always better to be prepared and have everything and not need it than need it and not have it. Thanks again for watching hope this helps and let us know if you have any more questions. These were just some of the things I could think of at the moment.
