I owned both a 1991 and a 1990 Miata, NA6. Miata's of all generations are wonderful driver focused cars. I haven't ever driven the ND platform Miata's, but they seem to appear to me, to be a call-back to what made the NA and NB such popular fun cars. The NC had that bigger engine and from what I hear less sporty suspension, so it's really wonderful to see the ND be a return to form. Also, it just has to be said, ND interiors are so nice, the flip up screen is super cool, and I love any car with knobs for climate control, not a screen. I am a person who would always rather own the NA and maybe NB (hard to say I would, love the pop ups too much), but the ND is one of the only modern cars I would truly consider. That and the 86, but even then, the Miata just seems more up my ally. 400Z looks cool.

I've seen videos of Miata winter driving and with good tires and the LSD, it looks pretty good. I'm an old dude who, in the 70's had a Fiat 124 Spider, a few Alfas, a 911 and XJ 12 -- all rear-wheel drive and I managed very well, if a bit scary, during Montreal winters. Thanks again for a great review.

Question - I see you have the club with Brembo brakes. I thought the RF with that package only came with Recaro seats. I’ve tried to build one with the club and regular leather seats.

This is in Canada, so the trims are a little different. You can get the BBS wheels and Brembo brakes without the Recaro seats in the GT trim

Only time there's even remotely some revs is when you downshifted which is undestandable with only 650 kilometeres on the odometer.

Nice to see Canadian coverage. I didn't catch from your review if the trunk had a power close. The other review I've seen so far was a hybrid version from the US which did. I believe both Preferred and the N-Line have the hands free loiter around your trunk to open, but I think that's different from the power trunk close isn't it that's typically reserve for luxury class vehicles. Are you able to confirm if the Canadian preferred trim has it or not?

You can go wrong with red stitching. It’s always wrong. Plus, stitching is not important. The boat important part of a car is the seat comfort, which you didn’t even mention.

I hate the light headliner - Corolla has black headliner - but the CVT is smoother on Honda - Honda does cut back on some options like tire pressure readings and an app to lock and start car, unlock and notifications .
