Thanks for the video, im gonna attempt it this weekend! 👍🏼
I'd be shy of using an air compressor. The Yamaha pressure test specs only 10 psi. Yours were leaking so bad it probably wouldn't matter; but, too much air pressure and you could blow other seals like the shaft seals. I did a 10 psi test and it held for about 15 seconds and then wouldn't hold any pressure again so 10 psi was enough to make a seal that wasn't leaking start to leak.
Yes so we keep getting a lot of comments on this and appreciate the way you brought it up. We made sure to watch the gauge on it and if I can remember correctly only tested up to 8psi both before and after replacing them. Interesting test though that you did shows how accurate their rating are and for only 15 seconds
How is using an adhesive going to affect being able to remove these seals next time? Did you just glue your seals in place?
What I like about this video is that you found a likely culprit vs have it a mystery. If you hadn’t found line wrapped around the seal area looking for a bend shaft might be a good next step. Has the repair held up?
Repair has held up for the past two years lower unit oil is clean and water hasn’t been getting in. The prop shaft seems to be straight with no nicks because of this and we believe that the culprit was just crapped out seals either springs were worn or rubber was cracked.
Excellent! How many hours were on the motor before they leaked and do you run in fresh or salt water? (I have a 2004 Yamaha 90 that’s why I’m interested)
@motorv8N we bought it used with about 1200 on it and are at about 1700 now
Thanks - I’m just climbing toward 400 hrs so barring actual damage hopefully I got some time before those seal wear out on me. Love the Yamahas.
@motorv8N yes Yamaha for us is the only engine we feel comfortable putting 2000 plus hours on just well built and not over engineered
Please do answer is the rotor metal
Yes it is steel
Support ontario fishing fuck yes
yes arguably the best freshwater fishery in the world
solid vid fellas
appreciate it
Right on guys!!
The part you just skipped I need to see
if you are talking about the part where we twist the impeller as we put the housing over it, then it was because we needed another set of hands. it requires quite a bit of force when you do it
fireeee
Great video. Hello from Canada. I just love grubs. Some of the things I like about them are, they are way easier to acquire and keep in good condition opposed to live bait. They work on pretty much every species of fish, you can imitate anything a fish eats with them by changing the colour and how you fish them, you can fish it in almost every way, lots of people don’t throw them so fish are typically not used to seeing them. They work scented or unscented if you have allergies or going into restricted waters. And they are usually pretty dang cheap.
Spot on, they are incredibly versatile and you can fish them slow with finesse when the fish are picky or fast and aggressive when looking for a reaction bite!
Address please, beautiful place
Let's see the filets only seen Ocean ones
The coho fillets are a beautiful red/orange and same with the smaller kings. The ocean fillets are red because they eat some crustaceans and to get the red on the farmed ones they need to inject them as they only feed them pellets. The larger kings here tend to be a pink-ish and we usually give most of them away as we prefer the smaller coho and rainbows for smoking.
Awesome morning!!! Its great watching you guys, I was curious were you guys fish out of?
Appreciate it! We fish out of Port Dalhousie.
Nice! Thanks for sharing
Thanks for the video. I bought some whole frozen pompano in a grocery store in Canada. Took it out of my freezer to thaw, then realized... I have no idea how I should be preparing this fish. I'll report back after I've finished cooking and eating it.
so easy to prepare almost like walleye in which less is more because the fish is so good on its own!
does ANYONE ever show how to get the yamaha bearing carrier out???
Slick tip. Thx
Good grief, and this has been driving me crazy forever
Trust me we were going nuts over it too that’s why I felt like I should share it
Thanks again for the videos. I was able to make one in 1 hour then a other 1 hour to adjust I cheated a bit used a 1/2" tube as a sleeve as I had more complex bend less space. Once I got two sides bent I brought them together inside the sleeve and welded it. Ended up with a 3/8 heim joint it was lower profile with gease fitting. Thank you again
Glad we could help and hope it runs smooth for the years to come
Thanks. Could not find the marine Co they no longer available. Ordered 3/8 hemi ball joints instead
I just ran into this same exact problem and this video was a huge help, thank you so much for posting this! So hard to find anything related to this issue online with so many different things it could be. I just ordered the same new switch assy and will post my results tomorrow. Thanks again!
This fixed my problem! My ignition ended up just completely going out, the new amazon one worked and was plug and play. Thanks again!
@4455336 so glad it worked that’s why we post these because you never know who you can help with them. Tight lines 🤙
thanks for mentioning about the bladder. Great catches and great video. Definitely deserves more views.
yes not many people know about the bladder inflating and its the main reason why fish won't go down. MNR should recommend a venting tool to anglers and we would see less floating kings and lakers over the summer months!
Setting out works better if you turn away from your lure, not into it. Turning into it will bring it to your other rigs as you let out.
Yes I like to make sure we are headed in a straight line while letting out my lines to make sure I don’t get any tangles especially with leadcore and dipsys
It’s always good to see the setup that was productive, the depth and the trolling speed.
My bad was a bit rushed but more than happy to answer it in the comments. Green spoons took most of the hits and as I said about 50ft down in 100-130fow trolling about 2.3-2.5mph
what time/month of the year
Middle of May last year
Why are these good for Dipsys but not downriggers?
Honestly just preference based on the boat we have and setup we run. We know guys who do use them for riggers but find rocket launchers better for our boat
that's dangerous
Merci beaucoup ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Con cuantas horas se cambian esos sellos? Gracias
dipsy is the worst trolling device ever invented.
What do you recommend for simplicity to get in the game quickly and proficient. Thanks
Whst sort of speeds you gotta be doing
You can run them at speeds anywhere from 1.3-3.5mph. Should be a chart on the package showing different depths at different speeds
When cutting threads use some oil and start the clockwise cut go full turn then back up 1/4 turn this drops the chips out of threads. continue full turns back up 1/4 turn then proceed process until completed. You can actually feel this helping while cutting threads
Appreciate the tip makes sense just thinking about it next project we will definitely try this
This guy does not know what hes doing!
Hey, Where is that spot in tweve mile creek?
WHAT ABOUT THE NEW IMPELLER
I wish you would’ve shown a little more footage of the fish you pulled in to make this video more interesting. What a shame you started out pretty good. Like for example what fish were these? Name? About how much did each weigh ? AGood start at video presentation but you’ve got a long way to go to make them more entertaining it’s not about you it’s about us the viewers.
Comment below what your biggest AJ weighed 👇👇👇
What set up are you fishing with, rod/reel?
Okuma Metaloid 20 two speed reel with a star Ariel conventional boat rod
Big ol' mutton nice catch
Can’t complain
Awesome fishing but u guys definitely arnt chefs 😂😂
Still learning on that part lol Johnny does what he can
great great great thanks
That’s deff not the plug to pump the lower unit oil in lol u pump thru the bottom.
has this switch held up well over the years?
yes it has been great
Wow beautiful fish man. Enjoyed the video and content. I just subscribed to your channel. Keep up the good work. Tight lines
Appreciate it, checked out your channel nice work slamming stripers gotchu with a sub
@@JKFishingYt thanks so much. Much appreciated.
Are the springs not needed? Did you just forget while making the video...just let us know please. Good video.
That's not a dry-wall screw. Dry-wall screws are much sharper and more tapered.
dont need muffs with the yamaha outboard , there is a hose you can unscrew and use. i used muffs for awhile before i discoverd this
Did not know that it would help a lot as our muffs are a bit big for the 9.9
The shop manual says to drain the carb float bowls. Just curious if you or other folks do that or why if not.
Wake up!!! New JK Fishing video just dropped!!!😲
