Garden rooms and more! I started this channel as a go too for self builders, It has proved to be a positive experience in the whole and not only are there tutorials but often daily vlogs.
We also have a successful Facebook community and with the help of them and you guys here, we have to date raised over £200,000.00 for Candlelighters, helping the fight against childhood cancer.
Thank you for watching and if your going to build a garden room of your own stay tuned.

Hi Liam what ever happened to the crafter conversation did you get it finished Cammy
tragic
Probably a silly question, so apologise in advance, Will the plasterboard / ceiling inside also have a 75mm incline or.do you do something to level it?. Thinking about the spots inside will be angled?
I’m literally checking daily for your next vids mate! Hope it’s going well.
12:13 the best way is to flick the tilt locking catch across the base frame before standing the mixer upright, it takes out all the slop and makes it much easier to lift up.
change the 90 deg for services to a long sweeping bend or 2 x 45 if poss it will be tight to push through on a 90
I could not work with that wee man . Jesus Christ he’s a freak ball
Argh damn and now I’m caught up and have to wait for the next episodes. Well done buddy. Enjoy the break. That brickworks looks great to me. My time off work begins in 2 weeks and cannot wait for the 16 nights off. Should get plenty done when not coming in off night shifts and waking up early to get more renovation work in. The grind doesn’t stop! But we move 💪🏼
Thanks mate, it’s 34° here, England won last night and we get to watch the final over here just before we fly back to the grind 👌
Love the honesty and hard work buddy… and the random Deadpool mask😅
Only 2 people noticed 🤓😂
@@thegardenroomguru haha I was dying at that. Looking forward to him and Wolverine this month 🤓
@@MarcusT86 been waiting for it for a while, got a few more masks mate, comment if you see them
@@thegardenroomguru 😆 I will
Slowly catching up with this series, and you’re not boring at all mate. I’ve loved how real, warts and all, and down to earth this is (no pun). And nowt wrong with the accent. I’m a South Wales supporter of LUFC all my life, so I’m partial to the accent! I’m in the middle of slowly renovating my house, well outside of my comfort zone, and doing everything for the first time. What these haters don’t realise, online or real life, is their snide barbs and remarks mean nothing and will not deter the likes of us. If messing around in sloppy clay soil in pissing down rain, dragging all sorts of crap into the house won’t deter us, some silly troll comments won’t.
Exactly this mate 💪🏻
hello sir i am building a man cave in garden atm , ive put cold roof on does it require vapour barrier was thinking about putting small log burner in there? thanks
"Jen's screwing face" 🤣Are the walls 3x2"?
Hi Liam, why would the larger concrete floor slab need mesh reinforcement, can reinforcement be dictated by size? Really enjoying the content by the way....keep going.... it's excellent!
No idea mate, just assuming that the bigger it is the more it’s open to expansion 🤷🏻but I’ll see what inspector says when I’m home
Just a suggestion, but I think it would really help with your YT numbers if you named the videos a bit more specifically and put them in a series e.g. "DIY Annex build: 1. Footings", etc. For anyone searching, it will make it clear what the individual videos are about and where to start.
Fair comment mate, I know I’m massively random, soon as I’m back from my holiday I’ll get on it, if you don’t see a change next week give me a shove pls
Morning, I had a concrete slab of varying depths (50mm to 100mm). This has now been removed leaving an area of 7m x 5m and 100mm levwk s below ground level. I'm building a garden room of size 5m x 4m with a 1m offset at the rear and sides. I will be using the rod system. Should the base of the floor timber frame start at ground level, leaving an air gap of 100mm or something else? Thanks in advance.
No mate, if you can go lower than ground and your building under permitted development take advantage of the extra depth mate, 50mm air gap
@@thegardenroomguru That's great, what would you suggest I do around the 1m offset e.g. stones, decking etc?
@DilipChauhan-i7n keep the immediate are clear to allow for air flow mate, and if using wooden cladding watch for rain splash back as you’ll be quite low to ground now you’ve gone down a bit, if that makes sense
@@thegardenroomguru please can you clarify?
Sun's out guns out
Hi Liam, I love your videos and even get a little excited when i see you have uploaded a new one 😊 One thing that you and most KZreadrs do is ask for people to subscribe, maybe you could make it clear that subscribing is free, i know it seems obvious to most, but some people associate the word with paying. Keep up the good work 👍
Perfect! I’ll mention it next time mate
Got me some raffle tickets lad 👍 I love the vids when I get chance to catch ‘em that is !! Keep positive mate
Cheers pal
You make it look so easy William , Great video , thank you .
Thanks mate
Absolutely great videos, love watching them before I start my build. Just a FYI - You didnt want to give away sizes of timber but floor joist size was clearly visible on your speed square
I’m full of it mate, say one thing, do another 🤦🏻♂️
Next time your in the sun just dip the brick into a bucket of water, I’m not saying all brick but brick that dry out so quick dip them quick and should be ok.
The engineering bricks your using are for out of sight under ground ground you got class A for face work and B for out of sight man holes etc. If you used class B you could have a problem with water being absorbed and freezing in winter. If you not sure then ask-for advice, but it should specify the type to use on your drawing and if not ask the architect or Building inspector. Looks like im going to win the bet as it’s getting pretty close to your date of finishing it, and that’s when you get your certificate from Building control, wrong time to take a week off your never get it back. I’m not knocking you your doing a Great job probably to big for first time and you proposed time to finish it in. It’s not like a Garden building.
Appreciate the advice on the bricks mate. Remind me when I said I’d be done? And getting completion cert was never in the deal 👀😂
Its starting to take shape Liam nice one bro, I saw a few smiles I hope that means Your dating is going well Man! keep er lit bonny lad
It’s going ridiculously well 😬🫣thanks mate
enjoy your break Liam and look forward to the rest of the series.Great job as always!!!
Thanks mate
Well done Liam, I was away last week on a cruise and came back with COVID! That is life!!
It just keeps throwing 💩 at you doesn’t it 😂

Loved the rendering impression. Reminded me of when the kids were learning to swim 😂
😂rendering double handed 😉
Thanks
What I want to know is what Christmas cards you get for your neighbors because that fence has been missing months 🤣
Great progress, 👍
Excellent progress and it looks fantastic!
Hi liam how are you doing today and the family you are doing a great job and having fun making some brilliant videos superstar Ali Walsall west midlands england junction 10 m6 Walsall churckery up the walsall
It not the building inspector for that it’s planning department who decides what you can and can’t use.
I’ll speak to architect mate
U wont need mesh in it... ur not parking a car on it!
He won’t have a problem with bricking up the back wall. It’s the only option really. Only person that could have an issue is planning but it’s at the back so doubt will be an issues. Looking good 👍🏾
Liam wat about letting ppl come in and helping ya, the likes of a brickie or general labourer, im sure if u ask ppl will be willing 2 help and get u further on
Kinda wanted to build it completely solo mate, kinda like a mission, but appreciate the sentiment and it would definitely make good content
@@thegardenroomguru fair point but dont burn urself out m8
A 6 inch soil pipe would allow you up to 1 in 60 fall if your struggling for it mate
Finding this ‘Granny Flat’ building series fascinating. 👍🏻
Thanks mate
ask the building inspector if you can use fibre concrete and I think I’m right you won’t have to put any steel mashing in the oversight, where I live in OXFORD that’s what we are allowed to do but where you are I don’t know but I would ask the question Have a good one👍👍 by the way don’t forget to put in your polythene membrane🍺🍺🍺
I won’t mate, I’ll call him when I get back about the concrete
You need to give yourself a break mate; I think you're doing fantastic as a lone dude !!!!
He having a week off?
Nice lot of work done so far , and with Jasmine to keep an eye on you. You’ll get more done.😂😂
😄
Great advances Liam ….. I was away over in your part of the world for few days …… was scratching to swing by ….. but as they ….. don’t turn up without being invited 😳 ……. Things a moving along now that the weather is better and the courses are starting to climb up 👏👏👏👏
Love the vids Mr Guru (new Subscriber) good luck and all the best to you /Kev
thanks mate, glad to have you onboard
Looks good mate
what's the reason mate for facebrick. with you not being a great bricky and it being rendered. why not build in blockwork?
its gotta be the same as the house mate, about 7 course of bricks above DPC then render
ah ok. could you have not used blue engineering straight out of the ground as you have painted yours black or does it have to be same as original. are you going all the way up in brick or doing block after the 7 course above dpc. @thegardenroomguru
Great job Liam and enjoy your week off
cheers mate!
I'll see you tomorrow mate. Plumbers always running behind 🤷♂️ 6:01
🤣
Great video, thanks
