The housing crisis in downeast Maine creates barriers for new entrants/new family formation that are so significant that these communities simply cannot grow and are on trajectories of steep full time population decline. Look at school enrollments in nearly any of these communities to see clear evidence that these places are on trajectories to be unviable in terms of being functional places for year round residents to live.

The road to the rural regions is paved with broken promises from those who express good intentions but fail to act.

Yup, the uglies, like zombies, have taken over Maine. Up there, beauty and fashion are swear words.

Excellent documentary. It’s a beautiful area that I’ve visited several times. I was aware in general of the challenges faced by the local community and economy. It was good to hear their stories firsthand.

We have so many people seeking asylum, and so many will come due to climate change, maybe move them to these dying towns, revive the towns, give the people somewhere to live and bring their skills. Win win

You've obviously been living under a rock or off grid. The US is collapsing because of "democrat asylum policies". Please get a grip, please get a clue.

Sea Level in the gulf of Maine used to be 120 meters lower than it is now. I think we will be ok. Living on the coast not to far from here I do worry about the fisheries. Nice film thanks

Great documentary video. Very well done. Sounds like Stonington needs government to do less *to* them more than do more for them.
