    How much does Blackstone charge for a volatility test. Does anyone know the actual volatility % for this exact oil??

    Viscosity= resistance to flow. That's all. A really high Viscosity or low Viscosity only neans how much it has the ability to remove and carry solids.

    I agree with needing to know what the virgin oil sample readings were so you can compare it to your used sample. I just received my virgin and used oil sample back from blackstone for liqui moly top tec 4200 5w30. If that is one of the future samples you would like test contact me and I can send you the virgin oil test report

    Great info. Especially letting people know that there's no such thing as lifetime fluid. It's really the lifetime of the warranty. Last Summer I changed my transfer case fluid in my '19 Ranger for the first time. Judging from the amount of the metal dust in it, I should have done at about 3000 miles :(.

    I have a new vehicle on order (RAV4 Hybrid), and I drive about 15,000 miles yearly. I'm trying to decide on the best OCI. Five thousand will be my max, but is there any big advantage to doing it at 3K? I keep my cars for at least ten years.

  • @thetechlibrarian
    @thetechlibrarian Жыл бұрын

    I'm not a mechanic, so I don’t quite have the experience of the gentleman with this channel, but I can say I have the same vehicle and 3K would be overkill on that engine, if I do primary highway driving in the summer say like vacation, I’ll run it to 7k maybe 7500 and it still looks honey brown. In the winter or if I drive hard lots of idling then I go 5k and the only time I really see it look dark is with a lot of idle time. To be fair I haven’t done a oil test but I’m at 100k and I’m not using a drop of oil.

  • @maintenance101-fbm8
    @maintenance101-fbm8 Жыл бұрын

    If I was you I would stick with 5K on a hybrid especially something as clean as a RAV4 I would not do anything under 5K I would just keep it right at 5K

    So far what I've noticed with using liqui moly molygen 5w40 in my volvo is that it is a little quieter at idle, hasn't discolored yet ( only at 1k mi so far), and driving hard hasn't made me lose any oil and the intercooler piping is clean. Great video man, keep them coming

    Silicon is basically sand. It comes in the crude oil and can't be completely refined out. This is why you see silicon in low numbers in Virgin oil. You are correct that a higher number will indicate dust and debris getting into the engine, mostly due to poor air filtration. I would be surprised to see a 0 silicon number. This low of a number also could have even been a speck of dust on the testing equipment or on the bottle.

    So I did not completely add everything in on the sus viscosity and CST viscosity that I should have added it The main part of the viscosity testing is at a given temperature which is typically around operating temperature they take the oil and they actually put it through an orifice and they give it a rating on how it travels through the orifice and the range is for sus viscosity 57 to 65 and CST viscosity 9.4 to 11.9 are the normal ranges for a 5W-30 engine oil The temperature at which the oil is run at directly affects how it flows so when I said the oil shearing that wasn't necessarily correct it was more along the lines of a given temperature at which the engine is run at and the oil flowing at a given rate

    Thanks for this big procedure to get the very important Noack value...sorry, in Europe Mobil Exxon has quit several sorts of oils dependend to vehicle manufacturers..even now I tried to use lubricant advisor for my car..and there is no recommendation to it! That tells me, they d'ont make oils for several car makers..only that EP or ESP stuff..crazy I just find out, that this Ravenoil must be the closed values compared to Schaeffers.

    It's frustrating when you end up chasing your tail. Electrical diagnosis was always my "Achilles Heel". Thanks to your videos I am now developing my diagnosis skills. I'm surprised Ford didn't put a better protective cover over the BCM in the passenger's kick panel. Carpeting doesn't offer much protection. Having size 11 "clod hoppers", I could see myself kicking the BCM every time I entered and exited the passenger side. I would think applying some di-electric grease to the pins on the fuel pump driver would alleviate issues. Again, I'm surprised Ford did not put a protective cover of some sort over the driver. The Raptor is intended as an off-road vehicle that is going to be used in muddy, snowy conditions. I have to say that this particular truck is one super nice vehicle. The black body with the silver wheel arch trim is sharp. I really like the look of the wheel and tire package.

    Good catch, but the customer should have at least told you he swapped fuses. I never understood why people use other fuses in the box to replace a blown one. The fuse they swap is in there for a reason! In an emergency yes, but at home grab a pack of fuses.

    I think the biggest issue is, the customer doesn't have the access we do to 5k, 10k, and so on maintenance intervals guides. I've noticed alot of people have a lack of information, and no way to ease themselves. Usually ends with them going to Valvoline for an oil change. The world needs more help with cars.
