I have two adapted m42 Mount lenses that I use with my gfx 100. 35 mm F 1.4 takumar and Helios 58mm f2. The 35 mm takamur shows heavy vignetting, but with the Helios 58 mm I see zero vignetting.

How does the mitakon compare to the Voigtlander 40 1.2 on the Sony?

Can you do more of this? This is really amazing! I am debating whether or not to get the mitakon, and this video is really helpful! Even better, if you can make a video of you shooting using the mitakon! Especially showing the focusing process!

How are you compressing the images for web? I use photoshop and export so that they are 2000px max size, with a quality of 8. Buy sometimes the grain that is added seems to not compress very well. Any ideas?

Seen interesting results with canon / sigma ef lenses. the 1.2s / 1.4s above 40mm…. Can also retain auto focus if you spring for the more expensive adapter.

First of all - fantastic sexy model! 😄❤ Awesome very useful comparison video! I think I’ll hold on buying Mitakon, and will experiment more with my Minolta 55mm on my GFX50R. But it seems like Mitakon is the best in terms of image quality (look) and price.

Jon, thanks for this lovely video! I own GFX50R paired with GF50/3.5 However I just don’t enjoy the images that come out of this combo. Always was looking towards Mitakon - it seems to create that “medium for at look”. I love how you develop your photos, great presets - almost undistinguishable from film.

Thank you for the great video. My favourite lens is actually the Minolta 58mm/1.4. I always wondered whether it would be worth to purchase the 1.2 version, but the vignetting is awful. I also like the 50mm/1.7: extremely sharp even wide open, but some vignetting

  • @sebastiang7183

The Helios is a complex lens. Center is sharp f/2-f/2.8. From f/4 onward corners match center. Very even performance. Bokeh will vary from the famous swirl to buttery smooth. Mostly buttery smooth. CA virtually non-existent.

You could use the lens correction for the minolta 58 and it basically can fix the distortion and vignetting. It’s great if you want character, the mitakon felt soulless to me and the weight is just not fun to use. I’m not pixel peeper but I like lenses with character over being able to zoom in 200-300%

I was having the same idea of using the Pentax 105mm 2.4 on the GFX, I do find a similar look but it’s something the Pentax has that the Mirakon cannot get. Mind that the Pentax lens suffers from a yellowing Torium color cast, it should be taken care with UV baths to get the optical rendition, another stellar lens is the Fuji GX 135mm 2.5 I believe. It brings the 4x5 look of and Aero into the GFX if you can adapt it to the GX system. Minolta glass can be used but it should be understood that some dark corners can appear. But overall the have a good rendition, specially for video work. Not overly process look. Great video Intel Thanks
