Came across your video in my recent searches. I myself like some others here just got news my dog was diagnosed with SCC. All I can say is that it is heartbreaking and a completely incomparable feeling. They gave us a prognosis of 30-45 days and it seems like such a shock. He’s been healthy his whole life and I always expected him to make it to the end of his life span. Sorry about your doggie also. ❤️ just here to share a moment for comfort

Thank you so much for the video. My dog Panda was diagnosed yesterday with SCC of the mandible. I got the news today from the vet who went over the results of his lab work and sent me a copy of the report via email. Just totally devasted with the news of the findings. The vet referred me to an oncology referral center where they would be expecting my call, but I wanted to review any videos about dogs with SCC first. I'm so glad that I came across your video and am sorry what you and your family went through with Lily. It seems as though the vets tend to see pet owners as cash machines to rack up as much money as they can through conventional means without seeing the importance of the benefits of the holistic approach. Thats why they probably blew you off on many occasions or didnt respond in a prompt manner to your emails. My dog's name is Panda and he is a lab/beagle mix ( looks like a corgi just a little taller and shorter creamy hair color with a slight brown tinge going down the middle of his back. I'm really concerned about him. He's been with my wife and I since I had him as pup in November 2011; not long after my wife and I were married in June of that year and moved into a our brand new home here in Northern California. I'm going to research some of the holistic treatment options that you mentioned in your video and see if that might help Panda. Again, I'm so sorry about Lily and I wanted to let you know that you were the best momma that she ever could of had and I know she appreciates what you did for her. Take care.

My 9 year old american cocker spaniel spayed female was just diagnosed with tonsillar SCC of the left tonsil. I’m not sure if there’s lymph nodes involvement. I’ve been told that her lungs are clear but that there’s some Nodules/inflammation of the skin. I was told that if money was a concern and I had to choose between x-rays of the chest or the cytology, to choose the x-rays, so we did the x-rays. We started chemo (palladia) and piroxicam and have an appt with a surgeon. She was doing fine, it was found during a procedure to remove an unrelated cyst and dental cleaning

I am going through the same thing you did. Found a lump on my Zoey's right tonsil. I was told it was cancer. Bam that Vet was done with us. Went to another, they did a CT scan and cluster was limited to her tonsil. They referred me to an oncologist who could be of more help. 4 and a half hour drive to the specialist, we get there they take her in and with a 12 minute exam they call us in to tell us it was squamous cell carcinoma. Now I have been to 4 different vets and not a one of them took a biopsy but rather looked and stated it was cancer. The visits to the vet started in May of 2022 when I noticed something was not right with Zoey. 1st vet said nothing was wrong. Nov 2022 I went to another vet who noticed the lump on the right tonsil and said cancer. 3rd vet agreed with first vet as well as the 4th vet. We were told all about the treatments with surgery and chemo. But, also told about the negative survival rate. The specialists said they wouldn't put their pet through the surgery and chemo and told us to take her home and enjoy the last few days with her. Zoey is still spunky, runs around, she can still bark and howl out that high pitch sound when excited about my wife and I when we come home. She loves to eat but I can see how she turns her head and yes, has trouble swallowing. Her breathing is at times hard for her but looking at her and how she runs around, you would never know anything is wrong with her. We were prescribed prednisone and amoxicillin. This helped with her breathing. Amoxicillin was changed to Clavacillin. I get to looking at her when she has trouble swallowing and feel it is time to put her down, But I just can't let go. We were told she would start losing weight, become lethargic, possibly start discharging blood out of both ends, not respond to our voices....none of the above has occurred. Like I said, if you watched her she looks as if she were a very healthy girl. Your story is the story I am living right now. It is Feb 2023 and I was told in Nov 2022 she would probably only last a month maybe 2 . Yet she is still with us. For how much longer I really don't know and as for the Vets....yea.. I've been disappointed as well.

I took zoey to the vet yesterday and did what I was hoping I wouldn't have had to do. Zoey was choking on everything I tried to feed her and her breathing was struggling for her. She was my baby girl and now the emotional aftermath is horrible. I keep looking for her as she was always on my heels. 60 years old and I feel like my entire life has just been pulled off from under me. People will say man up and get on. I know at one time in my life I would have said the same. But now that I've experienced the loss of such a wonderful world of what a tiny ray of sunshine felt like, I could kick the young me in the arse... I've taken enough of your time.. I do appreciate how you shared your struggle which showed me I wasn't the only one who wouldn't give up without a fight and several vet visits...

Hi Terri, My dog was diagnosed with SCC at the end of 2020 around December. The difference with my dog is that she grew masses just under her belly in front of her back legs instead of her mouth. Im surprised that all the vets you had seen did not know what to do or that they didn't send you to an oncologist. I was told that SCC is one of the worst cancers that a pet can have because once they have it, you could never really cure it but it can be managed. My dog also had a staph infection so she was prescribed antibiotics to first take care of that and once she did, they removed the mass although there was a slight margin of it still there. from there my vet told me that she could be seen by Dr. Macy, who is one of the top vet oncologist in the world. I did once every month (he only came to Vegas once a month) and he put my dog on chemotherapy. Each visit he would take his time with my dog (rihanna) and answer any and all questions and well as run blood work each visit. This lasted for about 4 months until I ran into a financial emergency and had to stop taking her. A mass grew back 7 months later which was expected since this cancer is basically terminal. My dog is strong and still has a lot of life in her so I will be doing one last surgery on her at the end of this month. She is back on chemo as well. My girl is 11 year old American pit bull terrier and she is such a fighter. If Lily is still here with us I do recommend reaching out to Dr. Macy. Best of luck.
