Great painting! Also, my round brushes lost their 'point' about eight paintings ago, and I'm in love with how sharp your brushes are. Will have to take a look at Trekell, never heard of them before!

Definitely should!! I hadn't heard of them either until watching Danica's video on her supplies and they are soooo awesome! Have you tried dunking your current ones into some super hot water? I just hold it in nearly boiling water but just the brush tip, not touching the ferrule. It helps but usually it gets deformed again at some point.

that's probably why didn't draw on paper in awhile because when I took a shot of it it just looked so slow quality. In digital I don't need to worry about that. Thanks for sharing this!

Great tips and concepts. You are a great teacher. It would have been invaluable if it was not so sped up and thus not showcasing the brush strokes.

I love your artwork, Danica. May i recommend a StaWet palette to use with your acryl gouache. It is a game changer that keeps the paint moist without watering them down

If this might help, drinking mugwort tea before bed promotes vivd and creative dreams! I'd recommend using chamomile and lavender with it to help balance the mugwort, but I really do think it could be exactly what you are looking for.

I've always been fascinated by the concept of dreams and what our brains do while asleep. I get crazy weird dreams and they often contain some kind of inspiration. Try keeping a dream journal. They're kinda difficult to get started, but as you continue with it, it'll get easier and you could always reference it for ideas and inspiration.

This is one of my favourite paintings.its much more of a painting than an illustration, its got more detail and depth and that fills the page giving so much colour and interest.A total different style to what you normally do but i love it,that you are experimenting and pushing yourself more.Your work has always been beautiful, but you never got this depth into your work before.I was so surprised seeing the thumbnail,as i don’t seem to get many notifications now,but you said you had some time off.Its done you good and you look at your work with a different way.I hope you experiment more into getting the depth into your work as it really does make so much difference. I love the Peonies on this one too, they are just stunning 🥰

Hey Danica! The Golden line you're thinking of is their High Flow Acrylics, sounds kinda weird because the Fluid sounds like it should be more inky to me, but it's the high flow that's just like ink. And I can only speak for the white since I don't own any of the other colors from that line, but it dries surprisingly matte actually, I think it's quite nice. Very smooth and creamy while being very very ink like. I use it with riggers a lot and it goes for a good long while before I have to reload the brush, especially for an opaque. Watercolor is my main medium and they meld together quite seamlessly in my experience, very fun to add in at the end. Anyway, hope that's a bit helpful, I wish I had other colors to report the finishes on, but you could always mix in the matte medium I suppose if they are glossy. Thanks for sharing your journey and work with us, I'm so grateful! I've been so inspired to try out new and different supplies with my artwork and that's for sure because of what you've shared with us. 💚

The thing that I love about you is how well you can communicate your thoughts and desires for your passion. It's inspiring, and I find myself coming back just so enthusiastic about listening to your voice! Of course, I adore to see your art and how the characters peak curiosity. If you're making some stories- That's so amazing! Looking forward for whatever you will be sharing 😊

she's lovely! one thing I notice is that the light was more convincing as a light when the centre was still white - if you look at pictures of neon signs etc the light tube is always paler than the colour it gives off. I do love the lighting on her!

Ahhhh I feel your struggle so much, I have the same issues when it comes to painting glowing things with watercolors. I also resolved to work with neon gouache and I’m still experimenting with it but even if I like an outcome I struggle to capture it as it is in real life digitally. I don’t have a good camera so I scan all my artworks but every time I scan something with neon paints it make them look so dull…. Is there any way to work around that?
