    I would love my daughter to go to this but she’s in high school yet still a beginner. Will she be able to learn some fundamentals here? All the goalies already seem to be great. She’s having trouble stepping to the ball, telegraphing it and seeing exactly where it’s going and her explosiveness.

    Awesome. Is the Goaliesmith camp good for beginners? I only ever see goalies that already know what they’re doing. Would a beginner be able to get attention and taught skills like stepping to the ball and reaction time to see the ball better.

    Goalies at all levels of play come to train with us - just need to have the desire to get better and work hard! As far as getting individual attention, coaches regularly pull kids to give them individual coaching points to work on.

    @@goaliesmithofficial thanks one last thing. What chest protector do you recommend. She’s been using the STX 400 from school but don’t know if I should get her the same thing for her own, Maverik EKG, or Unequal. Any recommendations or what do you see the most goalies use and like.

    @@stuff_i_liked1815 idk about what they prefer, i know a lot of goalies who like different things, but i personally use a shield 600 with the bottom pad detached. I don't feel like it does very much and it really just restricts movement. If you get it, i would recommend strapping the velcro to the far side of your stomach for a tighter fit which i think always helps

    hey goaliesmith i have a question. I play with a wide based stance and i find success with it, im a girls goalie and one of my coaches really wants me to play the traditional shoulder width stance and it doesn’t work for me, any advice for my situation as i want to respect my coach but i want to play goalie my way.

    Honestly, we've been told its way under priced. Best goalie coaches on the planet, top shooters, and the best goalies in your area all training for 7.5 intense hours and receiving tons of individual coaching + benchmarking vs top competition... not to mention we've never had an unsatisfied customer! That being said we're always willing to help those who cannot afford our events!

My daughter is new to the sport but going to be a senior next year and play on her varsity team but they’re not good. Lol. Sad to say but the truth and even if they don’t get better I would love for her to excel. Not sure she’d do that in just two days is all I’m saying. It’s either this or do club lax during summer. But I’m still weighing it out and we’ll be seeing you on the LaxRat goalie summit next week

    Regardless of whether you consider yourself a “high, mid, or low arc” goalie, as the offense moves the ball around the cage, play as flat to the goal line and as low of an arc as possible. 😎 If you stay in a mid to high arc, it’s easy to lose your positioning, and it requires more steps and effort to get reset as the offense moves the ball. 😬 ✅ INSTEAD, playing a flat arc allows you to see the pipes, know where you are (in the cage), and get to a set position faster. If an opportunity presents itself to play a high arc (like a low angle shot), you can then step up with control and reset yourself in perfect positioning. If the play changes or it becomes disadvantageous (to play a high arc), you can then step back and be in the perfect spot. Try it out and see how it improves your game. 🎯 - - - - -

    ❌ DON’T ❌ step out towards the ball! Shooters aim for corners and will beat you with speed if you step out towards them. 🥍 ✅ INSTEAD ✅ step ⬅️ LATERALLY ➡️ to have more time to react to the shot and to cover more surface area in the cage. ⏳ Especially on shots in tight, you'll need all the time you can get. 🎯

    Doing this will leave you exposed on high shots and take longer for you to get set. 😞 ✅ INSTEAD, maintain your normal hand positioning to navigate the cage as efficiently as possible, while remaining ready for quick shots in tight. ✅ Try it out and see how it improves your game! 🎯

    Focus on taking up space in the cage! Not every save will be perfect - use your body to your advantage!

  • @goaliesmithofficial
    @goaliesmithofficial7 ай бұрын

    ❌ AVOID ❌ holding your hands too far apart or too close together on the shaft! Having your hands too far apart will make shots close to your body difficult to save and leave you feeling jammed & handcuffed. 🙁 Having your hands too close together will make shots in the corners more difficult to reach. 😨 ✅ INSTEAD ✅ try using your hip or forearm to determine an appropriate distance between your hands. Finally, we recommend taking a small piece of tape and marking where your pointer finger and thumb meet the shaft. Try it out and see how it improves your game! 🎯

    SHOOTING SPACE called on a goalie.....daughter has been called for 5 in her 7 year goalie career. She tries to jump passes out of the crease and sometimes gets there late. STOP making them sitting ducks, even the field, make shooters think twice before teeing up that shot. If shooting space is really for safety why is it safe for a goalie to face the same shot with her IN the goal crease.

    Why not❓ Doing this will leave you vulnerable to more shots and delay the time it takes to get reset in your stance. 👀 INSTEAD ✅ Make sure to keep two hands on your stick so that you can get reset as quickly and efficiently as possible. 📝 Anytime the ball is on the stick side of the cage, use the head of your stick to feel for the pipe. Anytime the ball is on the off-stick side of the cage, use the butt-end of your stick to check the pipe. Doing this will allow you to check your position and return to “set” faster. ⌛ Give it a try!

    On a cross-crease pass AVOID ❌ stepping into the cage or out towards the shooter. Why not❓ 1️⃣ Stepping into the cage takes more time and steps to get across to reset. 2️⃣ Stepping out towards the shooter leaves you vulnerable for an easy finish on the far side pipe. INSTEAD ✅ Take a step directly across goal line to get across the cage and reset. ✍️ Let us know what you think in the comments! 💬
